The wind blew through my hair through the open window. The car sped down the highway, and I smile, loving the free feeling I got when the Celica raced down the road.

I glance over at Aaron, who glares out the front windshield, his messy hair blowing in his eyes.

I stifle a laugh, turning back to the road. I cover my mouth, pushing more hair out of my face.

"Ha ha, very funny," Aaron says sarcastically, shooting a glance my way.

"I thought it was," I reply, looking over at him with a smirk. He just turns his head to me, a blank expression on his face.

"Of course you did," he mutters, turning away from me. I fake being made at him, reaching over with my free hand and smacking him on the leg.

"Hey!" I say, keeping my eyes on the road, "what is that supposed to mean?" I turn my face and look at him with a smirk.

Aaron smiles at me, reaching his hand out the window and feeling the wind blow by. He keeps his stare out the window, into the distance.

I laugh one last time, before turning back to the road. My smile slowly goes away, and I glance at Aaron out of the corner of my eye.

What has happened between us? I ask myself.

"This is our exit," he says, pointing to a road leading off the highway. I slow down, and change into that lane.

Cars flew by, faster than a bullet. I watch, my eyes wide in awe. My smile was huge.

My heart ached to be on that track, to be speeding around in that circle, taking first place easily.

And that only made my smile grow bigger.

I felt a hand on my waist, and I look up to see Aaron smiling, his eyes following the cars in circles. I reach over and wrap my arm around his waist as well.

"Ms. Lake?" I hear a voice behind me ask, and I whirl around, letting go of Aaron.

A man stood there, smiling at me as he walks over. He is in his mid-thirties, wearing a suit and tie. Beside him stood another boy, in his early twenties. He is dressed in the racing uniform, a helmet held between his forearm and hip. He smirks at me, glancing me up and down. I give him a shy smile, before looking away.

"That's me," I say, turning my attention to the older man.

His smiles gets bigger, and he outstretches his hand out to me. I take it in a hand shake.

"I'm Mr. Montgomery," he introduces himself. After the handshake, he backs up, gesturing to the boy behind him.

"This," he states, as the blonde kid walks a few steps forward, "is Ashton. He's my son."

I turn my attention to the boy, who smirks at me as he extends his hand. I take a step forward, shaking his hand. But as i start to pull away, he holds on and pulls me closer to him. My eyes are wide as I look into his icy, cold blue ones.

"It's nice to meet you," he says, a cocky smile on his face.

I pull away from him, his hard grip finally releasing my wrist.

"Thanks," I say quickly, awkwardly. I back up, back to Aaron, who gives Ashton a death glare that could literally kill. I lean my head on Aaron's chest, while he wraps a protective arm around my waist.

"Ashton," Mr. Montgomery says to his son, "Luna is going to be our newest racer."

Ashton turns his eyes to me again, his signature smirk graces his lips again.

"There's never been a girl racer in this track before," he says.

"I'm here to change that," I say, giving him a challenging smirk.

Ashton gives me one last smile, gives Aaron a glare, and turns, walking off to his parked car a little ways away.

I watch after him, as does Aaron. Mr. Montgomery turns back to us with a charming, white smile.

"You ready to begin?" He asks.

I nod, the courage in me rising.

"You bet!" I say excitedly.
