"Hydro dragon, please don't cry..."

Freminet leaned over the railing outside the front door of his home, looking down at the bustling city of Fontaine below. Rain flooded down from the sky and across the streets.

The pretty pale boy didn't move despite his hair and skimpy clothes being soaked with water, he must have been used to it, or maybe he didn't care and something more important was on his mind.

"...Freminet?"

I walked over from where I had been watching him him to himself and whisper sayings for the last few minutes, I was worried he had been thinking to much again. He got overwhelmed easily, all I wanted was to be there for him, but I didn't want to intrude on his personal space if he didn't want that. I don't mind as long as my cute little boy is happy.

"Where's Pers?"

My voice must have shocked him as his head jolted up, spinning on his heel, Freminet looked back and forth between ourselves.

"They're inside right now..."

Freminet's limp eyelids covered his gaze from me, his weary figure stooped over, staring at the ground.

"Hey..."

I tried comforting him, I just wished he would turn around and look at me. I was never sure what to do when Freminet acted like this.

"Y/n, I really don't want to bother you...you are welcome to go inside. I don't want you to catch a cold out here."

He continued to look blankly into the distant rain, his glassy eyes a depressing rainy blue, all his emotions washed away. Even so I knew all he wanted was to make others proud of him and he would never feel accomplished enough no matter what he said.

Freminet could tell me to take care of myself and not drag him along with me but I know he isn't useless. He means alot to me.

"Freminet. Come inside with me, I'll fix you a drink."

Freminet held his breath, in defeat he stumbled toward the door with me, though still refusing to look up he cooperated.

Even once I had closed the door, we remained in silence, he didn't look comfortable in his own home. Freminet wouldn't lift his chin to meet eye to eye with me.

"Freminet please look at me... Is there anything you want to talk about? I promise you aren't a burden."

Freminet gave in, sitting down on the floor in a slumped pile of drenched clothes our eyes finally met. It was almost as if I could see into his soul chilled to the bone. His eyes were red and raw as if irritated from tears, Freminet looked hesitant to let me in, his line of sight flickering away once in a while in effort to hide his emotions.

"Y/n...please don't tell father I...cried...

The innocent young boy welled up and burst into tears, cupping his face in his hands, rubbing the tears off his face with his coat.

"Oh fremi... If that's what you need right now then so be it. I'm going to stay with you until you feel better, okay?"

I sat down and rested my head against the collapsed ball of what had become Freminet. He shrugged the coat off his shoulders and hugged my body warmly, his legs curling up to me defensively. Sniffling, he responded;

"Y/n I love you...I... thankyou for everything you've done for me..."

He gulped down the last of his tears, his small and damp freckled face looked up at mine with such adornment. I took him in my arms and caressed his rain-drenched hair with my fingers, he closed his eyes and rested eyes, Freminet's face relaxing and almost smiling at the loving warmth and trust he had in me.

"... everything you do is perfect...you are so strong...you are so smart...you are so beautiful...you are so brave. I wish I was as incredible as you. So whenever you feel like you aren't enough, remember that there are people just like me who look up to you and are amazed at those skills."

I mumbled quietly, Freminet holding my hand as I spoke, my voice becoming raspy with passion and emotion.

"That's why I can't take seeing you like this hurt. Your smile is so special, no wonder people look at your beaming face and compliment it, it's so beautiful. The archons have blessed teyvat with your smile."

Freminet's eyes were wide. He looked touched by my words, and I meant everything I said. I grinned and wiped a tear of his cheek with my thumb. He reclined on my wait and closed his eyes, falling into a comforting hug in my arms.

"...do mind if you stay a while?"

He stammered against my chest; Words full of sincerity.

I nodded and we sat there on the floor, leaning against the wall for as long as we needed, our heartbeats in perfect rhythm like a pendulum of an old grandfather clock.

Freminet's loving embrace felt like a wave of nostalgia, of making new memories, ones that I could look back on in the future and remember as a turn I would never forget.

"Y/n...stay whenever you want. One day I'll plan for us to run away together maybe, we might even build out own underwater world away from everyone where only you could see me like this."

I laughed, feeling his breath upon my cheek.

"...I would hope that in the future you'll never need to cry again and we can just cuddle all day."

My cheeks turned a shade of embarrassed pink. Freminet looked entertained although he didn't seem to disagree either.

"I'll try to take you up on that offer then, y/n."

From then on Freminet always held my hand on boat rides and at the theatre. Every moment we would spend together we would share and we would treasure, as we always knew we could count on eachother.
