It was Monday morning, and I was getting ready for school. I stood in front of the mirror, brushing my hair. As I did, I couldn't help but remember the way Jeremy's eyes had twinkled as we talked. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. "You're being ridiculous," I said to myself. "You're just making things up in your head." But no matter how much I tried to convince myself, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something special about Jeremy.
Wait a minute, what? I stopped in my tracks, replaying the thought in my mind. I didn't like Jeremy? Where did that come from? I tried to reason with myself, trying to figure out why I had thought that. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Sure, he was cute, and he was nice, but there was something about him that didn't sit right with me. I pushed the thought aside and walked into the school, ready to start the day.

In the middle of our free period, the door to the classroom opened. I turned around and saw Sophie standing there, a smug look on her face. "Ose," she said, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "I hear you're trying to steal my boyfriend. You know, that's not very nice." A murmur went through the class. I felt my face turn red with embarrassment. "That's not true," I said, trying to defend myself. "I don't even know who your boyfriend is!" Sophie's smile turned into a scowl.

Aisha stood up and faced Sophie, her hands on her hips. "Carry your smelling mouth and your nonsense accusations and go, abeg," she said, her voice taking on a Nigerian accent. "Just because you and Jeremy broke up doesn't mean he's Ose's property. She and Jeremy are just friends. You're being very unfair to her, and I won't let you say these things about my friend." The rest of the class burst into laughter at Aisha's words, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

Just then, the door to the classroom swung open again, and Jeremy walked in with Alex and Tolu. ( Apparently fred went to call jeremy) "What's all this about?" he asked, his voice booming. "Sophie, why are you accusing Ose of something like that? We're not even dating anymore, and it's not fair to Ose to put her in the middle of this. She's a good friend of mine, and I won't have you treating her like this." Sophie looked like she'd been slapped in the face. She turned on her heel and stormed out of the classroom.

The rest of the class was silent, everyone stunned by what had just happened. I turned to look at Jeremy, a mixture of gratitude and embarrassment on my face. "Thanks," I said, my voice quiet. "I didn't know what to say." Jeremy smiled at me. "You don't have to say anything," he said. "I know you're not the kind of person who would do something like that. And even if you were, it's not cool for Sophie to treat you that way." I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding. "Thanks, Jeremy," I said.

I saw Aisha and Tolu exchange a look, and then they both turned to me, smiles on their faces. "You okay?" Aisha asked. I nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay," I said. "That was... intense." They both laughed. "You can say that again," Tolu said. "You handled yourself really well, though," Aisha said, giving me a thumbs up. I smiled. "Thanks," I said. Just then, the bell rang, signaling the start of class. "Come on," Tolu said, shooing us all to our seats.

I sat down at my desk, watching as Tolu, Alex, and Jeremy headed to their seats. I couldn't help but notice the way Aisha looked at Tolu as he walked away. It was clear she had a crush on him. I turned to her and whispered, "You like him, don't you?" She blushed. "I... I don't know what you're talking about," she said, but her face betrayed her. "It's okay if you do," I said, giving her a reassuring smile. "I won't tell anyone." She smiled back, a grateful look in her eyes.
It turned out that we all had the same class next, so Tolu, Alex, and Jeremy took seats near the back of the room. I sat next to Aisha, who still seemed a little flustered. The teacher started the lesson, but I couldn't concentrate. My mind kept drifting back to what had just happened in the previous class. "Hey," Aisha whispered, breaking me out of my thoughts. "You sure you're okay?" I nodded. "I'm fine," I said. "Just a little distracted, that's all." She gave me a knowing look.

During lunch, I sat with Aisha and a few of our other friends. As we ate, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was Tolu, staring at Aisha from across the cafeteria. She seemed oblivious to his gaze, but I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. "Why is he staring at you like that?" I asked Aisha in a low voice. She looked confused. "Who?" she asked. "Tolu," I said, gesturing in his direction.
Aisha followed my gaze, and when she saw Tolu staring at her, she blushed. "I don't know," she said, her voice sounding a little breathless. "Maybe he just wants to talk to me about something." I wasn't convinced. There was something more going on here. "I don't think that's it," I said. "He's been staring at you all morning. He must like you." Aisha's eyes widened. "What? No, that's not possible," she said.
"But what if I'm wrong?" Aisha asked. "I don't want to ruin our friendship by admitting something that might not be true." I thought about what she'd said. "I get that," I said. "But what if it is true? What if he likes you too? Wouldn't it be better to know for sure?" Aisha considered my words, her brow furrowed in thought. "I don't know," she said, looking conflicted. "I'm just not sure."
