"Did you come outside to welcome me?" Jihoon's teasing tone didn't get him any laughter from Hyunsuk as the latter stood frozen.
"You don't seem so well, let me have a closer look at your face-"
"Stop. Don't come closer!" Hyunsuk yelped almost immediately, turning his back on Jihoon as he grabbed the door knob to support his weak knees.
But like always, Jihoon chose to ignore him as he tried stepping in.
"Don't come closer or I'll kill you." Hyunsuk's voice quivered with a mix of anger and despair as he tried to hold back his tears.
"Ah, this is upsetting. You've not met your husband for days and this is how you react when he comes back...You know you are supposed to forget everything and fall into my arms?"
The absurdity in his words earned him a glare from Hyunsuk, whose eyes looked red and swollen as if he hadn't slept for days.
"You are one selfish jerk because all you think about is yourself...You make others feel bad even though you are at fault...you ignored me all the time, did not even talk to me once and say that I'm not behaving the right way?!" Tears flowed freely now, mixing with the anger as Hyunsuk struggled to maintain his composure.
Jihoon quietly walked up to him, his footsteps making the only sound besides the convulsive sobs that echoed through the hall. He grabbed Hyunsuk by the shoulders, forcing them to make an eye contact and boy he shouldn't have done that because the guilt he felt just skyrocketed in that moment.
Hyunsuk looked tired, teary and hurt; so unlively, so unlike him.
Jihoon couldn't think of better response than saying,
"Anyways I think we should go together next time."
With that he slowly pulled Hyunsuk into a hug, feeling his weak, trembling body melt against his own.Hyunsuk's cries only grew louder, his tears soaking into Jihoon's shirt. The latter didn't say anything else; instead, he held him even tighter, trying to make up for the mean jerk of a husband that he had been.
. . .
"You know you have to stop right?"
Chaein looked baffled with what Jeongwoo meant. They had stopped outside her house as he was dropping her off.
"Jihoon is married, he has moved on and so should you."
"I don't think any of this involves you." Chaein reverted in a much annoyed voice as she tried leaving the car to enter her house, but Jeongwoo latched at her wrist,
"It does. I'm saying this as your friend. Don't get yourself involved in some mess."
Chaein was not in the right mind to listen to Jeongwoo and hence shrugged his hand off and rushed inside, without sparing a glance at him. He could only sigh, as he cared, for her.
Meanwhile, Hyunsuk had taken his time to calm down, though the cold made his head a little heavy but at least bursting out in front of Jihoon was of some help as he felt a lot relieved. As he recovered from the nap he did not know when he fell in, he found a little box kept on his bedside table.
It had a necklace inside, but it did not seem anything like the ones he already owned. The style screamed foreign and it did not take him more time to figure out that Jihoon must have brought it for him from Thailand. Although he was doubtful at first if Jihoon meant something special with it, his delusional mind liked to believe that he probably did because there was a note inside that said, 'I thought of you when I bought this.'
It was romantic(?) Well it probably was as Hyunsuk couldn't help but blush as he put it around his neck, forgetting all the rage he had felt sometime ago.
