The silence was defeaning after they returned from the resort the next morning. Hyunsuk had not spoken to Jihoon ever since and there was an unbearable cold air persisting between them which the latter couldn't take anymore and hence decided to barge into Hyunsuk's room.

"Leave, I do not wish to see you right now."

Jihoon wasn't expecting such a heartless response, although it didn't matter because he had already taken a seat on the sofa,

"Look, I know I went too far, I kind of lost it for a moment there. But any guy in that situation would..."

He continued after a sigh, "...so please understand, you know I act mean when I get mad."

Hyunsuk wasn't convinced to say the least, the appalling behaviour from last night was still haunting him. So he quite politely asked Jihoon to go,

"Please leave."

But Jihoon's patience was waning thin, this wasn't his best virtue so he annoyedly said,

"What more do you want? I already apologized."

Hyunsuk's last thread of peace was broken by the absurdity of these words as he spoke,

"You're really funny because how do you manage to make this about yourself, you don't really care about what I feel, do you? But I'm not some doll of yours who can laugh and cry as you like."

Jihoon was starting to get more pissed, "Don't you ever get tired of saying that shit?"

"Oh I haven't even begun pointing out your mistakes and you're already wanting me to stop. Then why do you come hunting me down like some madman when I'm with Yoshi as if you don't meet Chaein however you like, huh?!"

It was a full-on quarrel at this point, "Stop fucking using her as an excuse, what happened there was clearly started by you."

Hyunsuk blurted out a laugh this time, unable to believe whatever nonsense that came out of Jihoon's mouth,

"You are making me sick...things would have been different if I were her...just leave me alone."

Jihoon took a deep sigh while his fingers curled up into a fist as he realised that the conversation had only made things worse, though he did step out because it was the best for the time being.

Yoshi had come for his usual greetings to the great queen mother and was returning when he was met with a somber looking Hyunsuk sitting on the bench outside the common hall. He stopped obviously,

"Can I sit?"

He received an 'of course' nod from Hyunsuk.

And he continued, "Halma mama asked me about the highlight from the birthday party and I told her that I confessed my love and spilled out all my sincere feelings for the person I truly care for..."

Hyunsuk felt a lump in his throat as his voice cracked upon hearing that,
"Yoshi...even though you were my fiance once, we can't change what's been done... it's not right..."

How many times had his hopes been crushed by Hyunsuk like this, but he was still persistent, those overflowing feelings inside him, wouldn't let him stop,

"I was ten when I came home from school one day and called out for eomma, but she didn't respond. When it got too long without an answer, I rushed upstairs where I could hear the sound of water spilling out. She was there, drowned in the tub, with a slit in her wrist as her blood fused with the stream of water. I felt my heart drop there for the first time. I was crippled with the fear that she'd leave me alone, just like my father and I'd be left with myself, in this harsh world, all by myself."
