It's been months filled with skirmishes since Clans Fett, Tsuani, Vizla, Kyramud, Skirata, Beroya, and the Protectors have joined the ranks of the Nite Owls alongside Clan Wren and Clan Kryze. More clans even, have come to join them. Clan Ordo and Clan Merrik of House Ordo, Clan Kelborn and Clan Renelo of House Skirata, and Clan Teneau of House Kryze. Now the Nite Owls are comprised of nearly the whole of Mandalorian Houses.
Both clans of House Fett fight with them, all three clans of both House Kryze and House Skirata fight with them, two of three clans of House Ordo fight with them, and three of four clans of House Vizla fight with them. But it is still not enough. Members of those clans have defected to Death Watch. Along with the Black Sun and the Pykes bolstering the numbers of Clan Priest of House Vizla and Clan Saxon of House Ordo, the numbers of the Shadow Collective are too large for the Nite Owls and their allies to make a direct assault.
So they have taken to surveillance. As a former Jedi, Nya is the head of the team that tracks Maul's whereabouts. Although, they have yet to uncover where he goes when he leaves Mandalore. By now they know that he goes to one of the planets of his crime syndicates, but which one, they don't yet know.
All they could get out of one of their few prisoners, a member of Death Watch, was that Maul left Mandalore regularly. Which was corroborated by the fact that Nya couldn't sense him on planet. But the member of Death Watch had only one useful piece of information. And it wasn't really that useful, but it narrowed down the search a little bit.
The information was that when Maul left, he went to one of the home planets of one of the crime syndicates that now make up the Shadow Collective. Which narrowed the search down to three planets. The homeworlds of the Black Sun, Ord Mantell and Mustafar. Or the homeward of the Pykes, Oba Diah.
Nya lets out a shout of frustration as Bo-Katan enters the tent allotted to the team assigned to track Maul. Right now, the young woman from Clan Kryze is the only one in the tent. So Bo has no issue with being more maternal at the moment.
"Nya, what's going on?"
"I don't understand this. Maul left two hours ago. But either the Protector we sent in was killed or captured, the tracker doesn't work, or he's an aruetii."
"Fenn Rau seemed to think he was very loyal. Which is why he was recommended. I've learned to trust your feelings and your instincts, so what do they tell you?"
"My instincts tell me he's an aruetii. But the Force is revealing nothing to me. All I feel is a swirl of darkness and confusion."
"I'll talk to Fenn. Be ready to leave at the first sign."
Nya flashes her mother a smirk. "I'm Mandalorian. I'm always ready."
"Jate dal'ika."
Nya nods to Bo, who leaves the tent. Bo finds the leader of the Protectors, which isn't hard, he's usually easy to find. Probably because most of what he does is train or supervise training. Right now though, he is supervising, which makes Bo's job even easier, because Protectors don't like having their training interrupted.
"Fenn."
The man turns at the sound of his name. "Lady Bo-Katan. What can I do for you?"
"How loyal was that man that you recommended to Nya?"
"All of my Protectors are loyal. If not to me, then to Mandalore. No Protector worth his beskar would betray us."
"Maul's left the planet, there's no sign of your man, and the tracker isn't working. Are you absolutely sure that he's loyal?"
"Hmm. I was, now, I'm not so sure. I don't want to think he'd betray us, my lady, but if you'd like to be completely sure, Jurir's brother is over there. Kranak Ven."
