"Do you want anything to drink?", Jack asks his head poking out the kitchen door.
"Water is fine," I say looking around his living room.
"Wow, even in beverages your choices are bland." I roll my eyes and look at a photo of him when he was a toddler. Even then he had that little mischievous glint in his eyes.
During free period I texted Anna about me coming over to Jack's and if she wanted to come as well. She said she would be fine and that I could go by myself.
Jack came into the living room and handed me a bottled water. He sat on the couch and opened up his backpack with a Coca-Cola on the table in front of him. I sat beside him and opened up my own notes.
He looked at me, then my water and sighed. "Is there anything else you like to drink?"
I let out a breath and looked at him. "Yes." Silence.
"Are you going to tell me what they are?"
"Tea, OJ, milk, chocolate milk, punch..." I say try ing to think of something else.
"You don't like coke?" He says with his eyebrows raised.
"I'm not allowed to drink coke. Sprite yes, but nothing else really."
"You're not allowed to drink coke." He says complete astonishment on his face. "So you've never had Dr. Pepper, Coca-Cola..."
"Well, once I had Coca-Cola, but it was for a very good reason. I was in fifth grade and we took a field trip to the movies, and they only gave us coke to drink. No water or anything. Naturally, I ate all of my popcorn and I was dying of thirst. After about 30 minutes, I couldn't take it anymore, so I took a tiny sip of the coke and it was awful."
He stared at me as if I were some alien that appeared right in front of him. He shook his head and turned to his book. "I don't know how to reply to that, so I am not going to say anything."
I snort and begin to teach him how to do 7.4.
(45 minutes later)
"Let's take a break. It looks like your head is going to explode.", I say a small laugh escaping my lips.
"Yeah we should." He takes a sip of his coke and leans back against the couch. "Are you excited for tomorrow?"
I was a little confused on what he was talking about, but then I remembered about the yogurt gig thing. I also realized I hadn't told my parents about the gig. I mentally slapped myself. How could've I forgotten?
"Yeah, a little nervous though." I say admittedly. "Don't get me wrong, it was tons of fun being up there and getting to sing. It's just you know, still pretty scary."
He nods his head in understandment. "Yeah I could see why, but last time you guys did incredible. I don't see how you guys could drop from that." I smile at him. "Are you going to do a solo tomorrow?"
"How did you know I was thinking of doing a solo?" How did he know? Did Rapunzel tell him? She probably did.
"Rapunzel told me." Knew it. "She said you always wanted to know what it felt like." He shrugged. "So are you?"
"I don't know. I mean, I still have to ask the workers there and I also have to check if Merida and Anna are okay with it."
He made a face as if he wasn't buying what I was saying. "Is that all, or are you scared too?"
I bit my lip. I was planning on making sure that Merida, Anna, and the workers were okay with it, but I was also scared of doing it. What if everyone hated my voice on it's own? What if they thought I should just sing in a group?
