(The song Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat is featured and it's not mine)
Knowing that I was going to have to face Jack after the weird claims from Merida was in words...uncomfortable. Even though it shouldn't have been since none of her claims were even true!
And yet it kept crawling back to my mind, very annoyingly and very persistently. I mean, I guess it made sense. It only just happened a few hours ago and any sort of accusation towards someone about liking someone else is bound to bother that person being accused!
I was just letting Merida get to my head. Which was definitely not helping since I was on my way to Lenny's to see Jack and Hiccup perform. It would be unfair and irritating if my mind was somewhere else.
Anna and I got to Lenny's (got my car fixed, frick yeah!) and saw Merida and Rap near the stage talking to Hiccup. We walked over and saw Hiccup wringing his hands nervously.
"Hey guys, how's it going?", asks Anna looking more pointedly at Hiccup.
"Oh uh fine," Hiccup claims only making eye contact with her briefly. He kept looking towards the bathroom, then his hands, and then, very slightly, at Merida.
As for Merida, her eyes never left Hiccup. She put on a cool face, probably to try to help relax him by acting nonchalant, but she was fiddling with her bracelet. Probably in anticipation for Hiccup and his performance.
"Wow, you're going to scrape all the skin off your hand if you keep that up." Jack gestured towards Hiccup's tightly clasped hands. Everyone turned to him, including Hiccup who seemed to relax a little at Jack's presence.
Jack put his hand on Hiccup's shoulder and gave him a small smirk. "You ready?"
Hiccup freed his hands and gave a shaky breath. He joined hands with Jack and gave a small smile. "Yeah, okay."
They both turned towards the stage and began to climb up. Merida dropped her hand from her bracelet. "Goodluck." Hiccup turned and saw her looking at him and his smile grew. He nodded his head and walked over to the keyboard.
Anna, Rap, Merida, and I took a table near the stage. Many people were there at Lenny's, probably since it was a Friday. Hiccup did a sweep around the room and gave what looked to be a shuttering breath. Jack was talking to him and looked very relaxed.
Rap looked around the room and let out a hushed whistle. Anna then also took the liberty to look around. Her braid swinging through her quick checks. Merida and I however just kept our eyes on Jack and Hiccup on stage. I really hoped Hiccup wouldn't be angry with me after this.
After a bit, Hiccup nodded and rubbed his hands on his pants. Jack grabbed a stool from the corner and brought it to center stage. He went back and picked up a guitar.
Anna turned towards us, "I didn't know he could play the guitar!"
I laughed. "Me either, but is it really any surprise." Merida gave me a pointed look. Her eyes trying to look knowing. I gave her my own "really?" look and turned my attention back to the stage, and Jack was bringing up a second stool next to his.
He hopped down the stage and came to our table. "Hey, can I talk to you for a second," he asked and, without any response, grabbed my wrist and took me out of my chair.
"Um, hey! You can't just grab my wrist like that! Rude," I say after being taken a little ways away from everyone. Jack let go and sighed.
"Sorry but I needed to ask you something without Merida over hearing." That peaked my interest quite a lot.
"Why? What is it?" Jack crossed his arms and gave me a devious smile. "Well, Hiccup has finally gotten the courage to try to ask Merida out, and he wanted to do it tonight after his first performance."
