CHAPTER 13:- POV Of Characters (Nakul's POV)

   "O-ok Breath Breath, Nothing's going to happen to you, It's just a lake no one's going to attack you." I kept reassuring myself as I kept walking towards the Camp Lake. The most terrifying thing was that I have never gone near the lake at night. I totally forgot about that...and here I am walking towards It. All of the horror books which I read were now swirling in my head. Attack of the swamp monster, The Lochness monster of the lake, The Drowny Lady Of Drown Lake. 

    No no, what am I doing? I should not think about it right now! Trying to get my thoughts straight, Suddenly my leg got tangled in one of the vines and before I knew it I was falling on the ground. [OOF!] and I landed hard on my face. "Ugh stupid vine" I grunted and fixed myself, dusting off the dirt. That's when something shiny caught my eye. It was tangled up in the roots of a large tree near the lake. I walked towards the tree and removed the object from the roots of the tree. It was an old typewriter, Realising I have found the object I was seeking. I shouted "Wohoo!!" and did my happy dance.

    As I was happily dancing, a twig suddenly snapped behind me and I froze. I slowly turned behind and saw a girl with open hair in white dress and red stains on it and was standing near the lake. Suddenly she started crying and sobbing. I took a step back terrified thinking it must be a ghost but stepped on a twig and it snapped. The girl stopped crying and looked in my direction. We made a solid five second eye contact and than [AHH!!] we both simultaneously screamed with horror.

   I was about to sprint in the opposite direction but my leg got  caught in one of the vines and I lost my balance. Before I knew it the icy cold water had engulfed me and I fell into the lake.

  The sad part is I don't know how to swim. Flapping my arms and legs in the water desperately trying to make it to the surface. Instead of air, water entered my system. The cold hands of death engulfed me, keeping me from going back to the land of Life. I gave up and took a last look at the shining moon from the water moving in ripple pattern. Slowly closing my eyes with defeat I thought this is the end and letting my whole life flash before my eyes; I blacked out.

"My Son, Wake up my son." Mom called me. Slowly opening my eyes I realised I was back in my room in my bed and my mother was sitting at the edge with a smile. "Omma, is that you?" I asked. "Yes, my child, It's me." Mom said. "But Omma I died, how am I still alive?" I asked. Mom smiled and hugged me. "Do you feel alive?" Mom asked.

    I slowly calmed down by her hug, but felt a little dizzy feeling like someone's shaking me "Yes, I do, just a little shaky as if someone's shaking me" I replied. "Then you are alive." Mom said and broke the hug. I smiled and felt relieved that it was just a nightmare and I am alive and everything is back to normal.

     "Now tell me Nakul, did you clean your room and complete your homework?" She asked. "No, but what's the hurry? I am feeling alive. Let me just spend some days watching anime, I was scared to death that I will die before I finishing all the seasons, God the last episode had a major cliffhanger." I said and laughed off feeling lazy. Suddenly Mom's calm expression turned into anger, she frowned and slapped me hard across the face.

  The impact was so hard and loud that I jolted awake and mom's face was now replaced with a girl's face. It was the same girl from the lake who was crying. That's when I realised I was back near the lake but on the land and me and my clothes were soaking wet.

"Sorry, I had to slap you, y-you were not waking u-up and I thought you were dead a-and." she said with a heavy voice and started crying again. Slowly looking up at her face, I noticed how beautiful she is. Even while crying she looked beautiful, the teardrops on her face shining by the moonlight just like a dew drop slowly falling from a white daisy petal at night. The way her lips slightly pout as she took deep breaths to calm herself down. The way she looks at me with those sad innocent doe eyes with a slight sad frown.

  Something in me stirred, my breath was becoming erratic, slowly getting warm and nervous under her gaze. I realized our faces were inches apart and were maintaining a solid eye contact. Only she was sobbing and thinking she made a mistake and I was developing a c-crush? A CRUSH!!

  "Nakul are you there? Please open your envelope and tell us the clue." Anna said. I was still looking at the girl with wide eyes like I was trapped in a trance. Her trance. "N-Nakul I guess your friends are calling you." she said flapping her hands in front of my face. I immediately pulled out of my thoughts and took out my walkie talkie which was surprisingly working even though it was wet.

"Y-yeah s-sorry umm let me check the clue." I said. But when I removed the envelope of my jacket I realised It was also soaking wet. "Oh no, it's soaking w-wet." I gasped. Anna did not take the news well and she shouted at me. "What! How did you get it wet?!" I was scared and with a shaky voice I responded. "S-sorry I fell in the lake but d-don't worry I am fine and I can read the clue, It's still visible." I opened the envelope carefully so as not to tear it. The texts were blurred but it was readable Yummy Yummy Happy Tummy. More than enough for a clue. Don't you think?

Immediately we all shouted 'Cafeteria' as the answer, we immediately figured out the clue and I kept the walkie talkie away as my work was done. "Treasure hunt huh? sounds like you guys are having f-fun." she said. Wait, shoot! I completely forgot, that Daisy was still here! Wait, Daisy? Where the hell did that come from?

  "H-hey are you still mad that I s-slapped you? I apologize. You were not waking up and I thought something happened to y-you. Please forgive me." She apologized. "N-no I am sorry. Actually I was so lost in my thoughts t-that I forgot you were here. Btw thanks for saving me. But Wait, how did you save me?!" I asked.

"Oh I got startled when I saw you near the tree, I thought you were some ghost that's why I screamed but when you tried to run and fell down in the lake, I knew you were just a normal boy and seeing that you were drowning I immediately jumped in the lake, Since I know swimming and saved you. But when I took you out of the lake you still were not responding to me, I tried shaking you but It was of no use, I got so scared thinking you were dead so I came to the last resort to slap you. I apologize again for that." She answered with guilty face. "It's fine, thank you once again. but w-why were you crying earlier?" I asked.

"Oh that, w-well umm actually I am also in a team for treasure hunt and my next clue's answer was chemistry lab. But when I reached there I saw one of my bully's was already present there. She convinced my group leader that I was useless and would do nothing to help them. She offered to help them and merge her team with them if they removed me and they did just that and then she threw one of the chemicals on my dress and threw me out of the lab. I felt so bad and felt like crying so that's why I came here because this place helps me to relax and ease my pain."

  I felt so bad for her and at the same time it was like I had found my soulmate. She is just like me and going through the same things I was. I felt an urge to hug her but my shyness stopped me. "I-I get it, I have gone through the same things in my life, even I come here to feel relaxed and away from the world." I reassured her.

  "That's nice to hear, I am glad someone understands me. I-If you don't mind can you tell me your name I-I would like to be friends with you." My heart felt like it was going to explode in a thousand pieces and for the first time in my life I felt nervous and happy in a good way. "Y-yeah I am Nakul Joshi. It's nice to be your friend." I slowly offered her my hand and she took it.

   My whole body seemed like It was paralyzed and butterflies were dancing in my stomach. "My name is Ella, Ella Dsouza It's Nice to meet you." she said and smiled. Her smile was even better. I was mesmerized by her beauty. "Umm I should probably get going, see you around Nakul." She said and waved goodbye. I waved her back and nodded. As she kept walking, I just kept staring at how beautiful and innocent angel she is. Suddenly she stopped and looked back. "Btw nice dance though." And walked away giggling. My whole face turned red like a tomato with embarrassment.
