impatience

Your boots were muddied from travel as you marched through Hyrule tirelessly, your comrades a few paces behind you. You'd done this before when you'd originally come to this country, sleepwalking for god knows how long. This time, however, you had a personal mission that you were itching to complete. This was clear to everyone really, as you didn't even bother to stop for conversation like normal.

The luck you had just a matter of days before had you immediately spoiled. It was like the Goddess herself was on your side when you were chosen to go to Rito Village, just like you wanted. It was almost too convenient... whatever.

Maybe you and the Rito Champion did not need to be apart for long. I mean, its not like you'd die or something stupid if he was gone for a bit, but you were lonely. Embarrassingly lonely. For the first time since you got here, you felt weirdly bitter and inconvenienced. Can't we just get there already?

The road was long, and with this many people, things took much longer than you'd hoped. You hadn't bothered to figure out how many people exactly were in a platoon, but you'd at least put together that there were about thirty or so soldiers in your group. It wasn't a lot, really, but it was enough to make the trip significantly slower.

It usually doesn't take longer than a few hours to get to Rito Village from the capital if you packed light, but it had taken a little more than a week to get there. Maybe you were just accustomed to travelling in... questionable conditions. Considering you ultimately didn't need to worry about the cold or getting attacked(at least not as much as any other person), travel was usually very straight forward. Plus, you'd barely packed anything in the first place, so there wasn't much to keep track of. Here, however, there were approximately twenty-nine other people to account for, and their feet ached from walking and fatigue gradually slowed them down. They couldn't just keep going, not like you.

Horses were brought along as well, and they pulled heavy carts full of various supplies for miles. This made things easier for everyone physically, but making sure the horses were taken care of added even more time to the trip.

There were a couple times you just kept marching onward after everyone had stopped, and that earned you a scolding(or several). So, begrudgingly, you stayed with the group during every break and every stop. You were evidently anxious to get back to the village, to enjoy the crisp air and hopefully be near your new friend. That is literally all you wanted. Your peers noticed your impatience and made teasing comments, which you brushed off.

"Ohh, watch out folks! Looks like Speedy over here has decided to join us." one laughed as you sat down with a sour look. Most laughed with her, much to your annoyance. "Are you runnin' from somethin' and I just didn't get the memo?" You glanced over at your superior, who was sitting not too far away. The lieutenant that was put in charge of this platoon said nothing, seemingly busy with some book. You were thankful that your superiors from before were mainly left at the capital or assigned somewhere else. They were just needlessly harsh, though this guy seemed pretty indifferent to everything.

"Knock it off." you grumbled, snatching a bowl sat on a crate that was left for you. Your peers here were being weirdly nice(despite their teasing), you realized, but you didn't treat them nearly as well.

You were on something of a short fuse the whole trip, just wanting to get there already. When you all finally arrived, you felt deeply relieved. Unlike before, you didn't cut through the mountains but instead followed a path around. You... didn't know that was an option. It made the trip much less treacherous and shortened it considerably. Everyone stopped in a familiar valley, the one right in the path of the Flight Range.
