Hello, hello! Been awhile, I apologize. Warning you that this chapter is long. But we get to meet Harry(!) so there's that.

Enjoy :)

Oliver is stressed.

Quidditch tryouts had snuck up on him and now they were only five days away. It seemed like every Gryffindor had something to say, whether it was to inform Oliver that they were the best at their position and didn't need a tryout to prove it, or to lecture him about picking the best people for the team so they could win the Quidditch Cup. Random Gryffindors had even come up to him to give random pointers on how to run the tryouts.

Olivers left eye hasn't stopped twitching.

The only moments of reprieve he gets are when he's alone in his dorm room. He usually ends up sprawled on the floor, a stray book digging into his back that he's too tired to do anything about. That's how Percy finds him when he comes back from the library: Quidditch gear still on, hair plastered to his forehead, stretched like a starfish across their floor. His cheek is smushed into the floorboards and his eyes are half closed.

Oliver hears the snick of their door closing and the heavy thump as Percy sets his bag and books down, and doesn't so much as twitch. Eventually Percy sits down next to him, a book in his lap, and threads their fingers together. But he doesn't speak or try to make Oliver and for that Oliver is grateful.

For the next few hours, they simply exist, the silence around them only disrupted by the flip of a page and the eventual soft snores as Oliver falls asleep.

Three days before Quidditch tryouts finds Oliver in Charms class, one of the few they share with Ravenclaw House. Professor Flitwick had them learning how to put legs on inanimate objects yesterday so that they could learn the Tarantallegra charm to make it dance.

They started with teacups and have since moved onto rocks. To no one's surprise, Percy's rock has arms and legs and is currently skipping around their table, much to the delight of Professor Flitwick, who awarded him 20 points. Penny's only has one leg and Oliver's somehow has three, but they're both doing a shimmy of sorts - stilted and jerky as it is - so they've both been awarded 5 points.

Penny is attempting to sabotage Percys rock, that is now doing what looks like an irish jig, when Professor Flitwick clears his throat. He's standing at his podium, a rock of his own dancing in front of him. "As some of you may know, The Tarantella was a dance believed to cure the effects of the bite of a Tarantula by causing the victim to sweat out the toxin. It wasn't until centuries later that a potioneer determined-"

He's cut off when the classroom door opens, Professor McGonagall poking her head into the classroom, "Excuse my interruption, Filius, might I borrow Wood for a moment?"

Everyone's attention, previously trained on the Transfiguration Professor, swivels to land on Oliver. "Certainly, Minerva!," Professor Flitwick says, nodding his head.

He leaves his bag with Percy since they have lunch next and joins Professor McGonagall at the door. He hears Professor Flitwick mention something about the Black Widow Spider as the door shuts but pays it no mind as his eyes snag on the boy standing behind her. He's a first year by the looks of it, quite small for his age as he's drowning in his robes. He keeps glancing warily at Oliver like he doesn't know what to do with him.
