LIAM
The party was pretty fun. I mean, each one of us did their own thing and had fun. I stayed with Maren mostly because she didn't know anyone else and also Dani couldn't make it. I hadn't seen her in almost a month and it sucked, honestly.
"So that over there is Demi Lovato. Great girl," I added, pointing at the dark haired girl talking to a group of friends in the corner. My plan was to introduce Maren to more girls she had previously known but wasn't really close to before so her memory loss wouldn't seem obvious. I didn't want her accident's consequences to be released to the public. Too many questions and issues that could arise from that for the band, no use in risking it.
"Is she nice?" Maren asked, biting the straw of her drink (not alcoholic of course because God knows what Maren would do on alcohol as she was unpredictable under the influence).
"Very." I said. I pointed at the dark haired boy dancing. "That's Josh Devine. He's our drummer. Next to him is Dan our guitar player."
Maren nodded slowly then turned to me. "Why are you showing me all of these people?"
I shrugged, looking elsewhere. "Erm, just because."
Maren rolled her eyes. "So where are the other boys? And your girlfriend? Wouldn't you rather hang out with them?"
I laughed lightly. "I'm fine hanging out with my sister."
She groaned. "No, you're not. Go. Have fun. You don't have to baby-sit me." Maren gave me a reassuring smile.
I kissed her on her forehead. Maybe she was right. "Oh, alright. Don't stray to far and text me if you need something."
I wandered off, looking for maybe Niall or something. Zayn had previously been with us but then heard Perrie was around and walked off.
I made my way upstairs to get an aerial view from the balcony. To my surprise, the Irish lad was sitting all alone drinking a bottle of beer.
"Niall?" I said, approaching him.
He turned, his smile lopsided. Oh my god, he's drunk. "Aye, Li-Li,"
"You drunk, mate?" I asked.
Niall giggled. "Drunk. Ed the Red Head wrote a song like that."
I sighed. "Aw, Ni, why'd you have to get drunk?"
"Too much thinkin' up here." He tapped his forehead. "About Mare-bear and everythin'." Niall's words were slurred and his sentences were choppy. I sat him down on a foldable chair and kneeled at his feet. Poor lad. He had been trying to keep himself together but inside he was tearing apart.
"I miss 'er, a lot. She was my girl. Dunno about now." Niall said, swaying side to side.
I gave him a look. "Why do you say that?"
Niall laughed like that was the funniest thing in the world. "Maren was kissin' some bloke. Didn't know 'im. Nice-looking though, Maren was kissin' him and not me." He pointed to himself. "I'm the boyfriend, Li-Li. Not that guy. You said it. I'm the boyfriend."
I smiled sadly. "You are the boyfriend. She just doesn't know it."
"So, er, what do you make of the boys?" I asked Maren with an uncertain smile. We had spent the entire day rehearsing with Maren watching.
She grinned. "They're great. Harry keeps hitting on me though." Maren laughed as Harry gave her a flirtatious wave from the stage.
I gave him a glare. "He keeps doing that and I'll hit him."
Maren laughed again, nudging me lightly. "Relax, big brother. I'm not going to date any one of them. I'm happily single."
I threw my head back, laughing. "Oh, alright, as long as you stay away from all of them. They're all trouble."
"Even Zayn?" Maren pointed at the dark haired boy who was attempting to learn choreography.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Might as well." I then grinned at her and we laughed.
Niall snored loudly on my shoulder as the party hankered on. I had no idea where my sister was but I had a feeling she was hanging around that boy Niall was talking about. Maren had been kissing a boy? I was wildly curious but also slightly angry. She shouldn't be going around kissing boys when, when she.... Oh wait. Maren didn't know she was dating Niall. And I didn't want to tell her but I had to soon. I couldn't let her maybe date this boy while sort of dating Niall. Talk about awkward.
MAREN
It had been honestly one of the best nights I had in a long time. That I remember of course... I always feel like I should add that just because of my memory loss. But it was really great.
After detaching my self from Liam's side, I found a few nice girls around my age to talk to. They didn't know me prior to that and I didn't know them. It was pretty great actually. We talked about songs we heard on the radio, fashion, and celebrities I didn't even know. But like they cared.
I was pretty sure the blond with the pixie cut was named Penny and the girl with the waist-long black hair was Chris.
"What time is it, anyway?" Penny asked after awhile.
Chris shrugged and I looked at my phone. "10 o'clock." I said.
Penny groaned. "I have to go. My boyfriend wants to visit his mother before we leave town."
"Aw!" Chris squealed.
Penny threw her a look. "Erm, no. He's a pain in the arse but he's great company."
Chris and I laughed. "Mine is out of town," Chris said. "Plus he hates parties."
The two went back and forth saying what they didn't like about their boyfriends. Then Chris turned to me. "What's yours like?"
"Oh," I said, taken back. "He's, erm, nice." I mumbled. Yeah, I had a boyfriend but I had no idea who the hell he was. So I kind of figured that if I went out with a guy, he'd be nice. Right? Then again, I had no idea what had changed since I last remembered.
Chris and Penny seemed bored with that answer and continued to talk about other things like this band I didn't care for. I left them to refill my drink.
"Oh, hello, Maren,"
I turned around and a wide smile spread across my face. Jack.
"Hi," I said.
"Want to go upstairs?" Jack asked, gesturing at the madness around us. I nodded and followed him up to one of two balconiesCherhad at her house.
"So are you from London?" I asked him.
He shook his head, his brown eyes glinting in the party lights. "Wolverhampton actually,"
I gasped and Jack looked at me. "Me too!"
He smiled. "Really? You're joking."
I shook my head. "No, I'm not." I described where I lived and went to school. Jack laughed and I gave him a look. "What?"
Jack shrugged. "It's just ironic, you know? We've basically lived five minutes away from each other all of our lives and we've never really, you know, talked. And years later..."
"We do." I said with a slight smile and I felt drawn toward him, our lips nearly touching.
Simultaneously when our lips touched, I also heard: "I thought you loved me, Maren."
