after our first week of classes & lots of tears cried from me because i miss home, luke took me on our first date.

"what looks good?" he asked as we looked at the menu

"umm, the salads look good."

"for an appetizer? i think ill get one too, where are they at?"

"oh i wasn't thinking for an appetizer, i was-"

"baby, get whatever you want. soup, salad, pasta, chicken, whatever."

"im fine."

"i mean it." he said. "you better eat, i know you're tired of that cafeteria food."

i nodded and looked at the menu, deciding on the grilled chicken.

we ordered and i gave my attention to luke.

"how is everything?"

"i miss home."

"yeah." he said

"but i think i just need to get in the groove of classes and ill be fine." i said.

"my mom said you can come by the house whenever. they watch my away games there and she'd love to have you over. plus any away game they go to, youre going too."

i nodded.

"this might be weird but i love your house." i said.

"what about it?"

"its so homey and i love it." i smiled.

"i guess i need to go to your house." he said.

"you should."

"we just live so far apart." he said.

"yeah."

"whats your plans for thanksgiving?"

"i think im at my parents. jack & quinn dont really get a break so theyre teams will get together and have a team meal but yeah, holidays are different now that were older." he said.

"i get it, my dad coaches an nahl team so the boys stay there for thanksgiving. why dont you come to texas with me?" i offered.

he smiled, "id love that, but ill need to see what the teams doing and how much of a break i get." he said.

"i understand."

"what are we going to do when i go to jersey and youre in ann arbor?" he asked, as our dinner arrived.

i stopped cutting my chicken.

looking up at him, "dont we have 2 years together until that?"

he made a face, "like a year and a half."

"oh." i said.

"just depends on how the devils do and how umich is doing. its common for teams to call up players in college." he said.

"yeah." i nodded.

"weve still got like 2 years."

i shrugged, "im not worried."

im all worries actually.

"you sure?"

"luke, were really early into our relationship so who knows what happens between now & you going to jersey." i said.

he nodded.

"im proud of you and ill still be proud of you when go to jersey."

"if were still..." he paused. "i dont want to move to quickly, if were still together when you graduate will you move to jersey with me?"

"as long as youre okay with me starting my job there." i said.

"ill be your biggest supporter." he said.

i smiled, "and ill be your biggest cheerleader."
