i knocked on the hughes' door, feeling anxious.

after a rough sunday morning, i started out the drive with delly in the passenger seat and tears streaming down my face, a sad playlist playing and a lemonade energy drink, we made it to michigan. with 2 overnight stops at hotels, where the 7 of us crammed into 2 beds.

its tuesday and as soon as i pulled into campus to move in this morning, i felt at home.

i saw the other families moving their kids into their new town for the next 4 years.

my dorm room is decorated & i met my roommate, maisyn, in person today.

im feeling better about this move.

"you probably feel like me when i went to tyler seguins house." delly said.

the door opened to luke, "hey sunny."

he wrapped me in a hug for a second, then step away.

his parents appeared by his his, yes i googled them.

"this is sunny lexington and her family."

i stepped into the house, "im ellen, nice to meet you dear."

"jim."

"hi, these are my parents, kacey & ryan."

they hugged and shook hands, greeting them in.

"and then my little siblings, theres delta, crew, stella, & nova."

"its nice to have you guys, come on in." ellen said.

theyre house is very home-like.

you can tell its well loved and they love having a full house by the way jim is already showing crew where the tray of fruit is.

"how long was the drive?" ellen asked.

"19 hours, we stopped on the way twice for sleep." my mom answered.

"wow, big road trip!"

"we'll definitely fly up here to visit her." my mom said.

"oh just let me know and you guys can stay here."

"you're very generous ellen, but with 4 kids and-"

"oh please we love a loud house, we enjoy it."

luke arm wrapped around my waist.

"hey." i whispered, still watching as our families perfectly molded together.

"get all moved in?"

i nodded, "yes, moved in at 9:45 and finished at 11:30."

"i moved in at 1 and finished at 1:10."

i laughed, "you probably moved in with bed sheets, a blanket, & 7 outfits." i joked.

"maybe."

he tugged at my hand, pulling me up the stairs to his bedroom.

the hallway was lined with photos of him & his brothers.

"where are they?"

"jack & quinn?" he questioned.

"yeah."

"oh boys week."

"you weren't invited?" i asked.

"its them and their other nhl buddies. ill be invited one day." he told me.

opening his door to his room, i noticed it was clean and unlike my room back at home, it wasn't half empty with the things i took to college.

maybe he did only bring bedding & 7 outfits.
