i got hayes' car, meeting in our usual meeting spot at the lake.

"hi hayes!" i smiled.

"hi sunny."

he locked his phone and set it down.

he looked at my body and smiled.

"what?"

"those overalls are cute." he said

i blushed, "aren't they?"

"i never seen your style before and now i can imagine a life without it."

"stop it, youre too kind." i gushed, gently shoving him.

"i mean it." he laughed.

"what do you call this style?" he asked.

"umm," i thought. "the sunny?"

"oh sunny, the things you do to me baby."

woah.

im uncomfortable.

"what do you call your style?"

he looked over his clothing before looking back at me.

"they hockey sty."

i laughed, "i see it a lot." i joked.

"dont do me like that."

i shrugged, "dont dress like every other player on the team."

"am i your favorite player?" he asked.

"no." i shook my head.

"what?" he asked shocked.

"you're not."

"who is then?"

"no one." i answered.

"who is your favorite player? you gotta have one."

"miro heiskanen." i answered.

"not nhl baby." he laughed.

"dont call me that hayes."

"damn, just when i thought we had something going for us when we go to college you gotta tell me you dont like me." he said.

"i never said that."

his right hand pointer finger was tracing the floral design on my overalls.

"what did you have to tell me?" he asked.

"remember when we went to toronto?" i asked.

"yes." he nodded.

"i got the artist job." i smiled.

his face wasn't excitment, it was shock.

"you fucking what?"

"i leave im 2 weeks." i said.

"no you dont." he said, controllingly.

i quickly wiped the smile from my face.

"no i am. i got the job. its a-a dream job."

"a dreak job is the job you wanted at 5 years old, this position opened 2 months ago. sunny, you said you weren't leaving me, so youre not leaving me. im the captain so that basically means i wont be traded, you cant leave this relationship. im
not doing long distance." hayes said.

"im sorry hayes, we can text and ill call-" i said.

"you wont have to fucking call if you'd stay here! you're the only thing keeping me in the game." he said, trying to guilt trip me.

"hayes, were not even dating and you're reacting like this?"

"bull-fucking-shit sunny! just because your dad said we cant date right now doesn't mean we aren't secretly dating."

i shook my head, "because we aren't, hayes."

"you're such a liar." he laughed.

"huh?"

"sunny, dont play dumb sweetheart."

"im going to go." i said, grabbing the door handle, wanting to run for the hills.

"no," he held my arm. "were talking this out."

"hayes there's nothing to talk out, im going to toronto."

i ripped my arm away and got out, slamming the door closed in the process and got in my car.

before i knew it hayes was at my window, begging to get in.

"go away."

"you're no leaving." he said.

"i am." i said back.
