These Things Are Never Easy

Cody's POV:

"My choice is Madison." I say, flatly.

"Are you serious?" Allie asks me.

"Yeah." I say. God, Allie is cold.

"You better break up with Kelsey then."

"I can't do that! It will break her heart." I say.

"And it won't if she finds out you have been cheating on her?" Allie asks.

"Well, give me time to think this through. I have a hard decision to make, and I don't wanna hurt either one of these girls." I say, I'm lying. If Allie didn't know, I would date these two and keep it a secret from them.

"Don't give me your bull, Cody. I know you. Call Kelsey right now or I will call both of them and you'll be a single jerk that no one would want to date." Allie says. Harsh.

"Frick. Fine, I'll call Kelsey."

Kelsey's POV:

"Hello?" I ask, as I pick up my phone.

"Hey, it's Cody." He says.

"Hey, babe. What's up?" I ask.

"Look, I need to talk to you." Cody says, quickly.

"Okay, shoot." I say. Where is he going with this?

"Well, first of all, you are an amazing, beautiful girl who is insanely talented. And second of all, I'm breaking up with you." He says, as quick as he said before.

"Whats wrong, Cody? WhAt did I do?" I can feel the tears forming in my eyes.

"You didn't do anything. Actually, this is what you deserve. You don't deserve me, Kelsey. I ch-cheated on you." He says.

"What do you mean?" I ask. This went down quickly.

"I have been dating Madison Pettis for about a year. I really like you though, so, I thought we could have a go." He says, as if he didn't do anything wrong.

"You jerk!" I say.

"I'm not a jerk!"

"Yes, yes you are. You're a jerk who pretended to love me, pretend I was the only, and made me do something horrible to my best friend!" I was shedding tears now.

"Whatever, Kelsey." He says.

"Oh, and one more thing Cody." I say, I hope I sound as much like a brat as possible.

"Yeah?" He says as if I might change my mind, and fall back in love with him.

"I'm not finishing the duets with you." I say.

"But that was my chance of really being noticed!" He yells.

"Is that what you used me for? Getting popular?" I ask.

"Yes."

"Wow. That's low."

"Kels-" but it was too late. I had cut the line and I had started bawling.

I was crying and making loud, hiccuping noises. I was in my room hiding under my zebra print bedding, when Justin came in.

"Alright, whose butt do I need to kick?" He said.

I love my brother.
