Val's POV
We were taken to the factionless and I exactly knew where we were the moment we step into her office
"Valkyrie, Tobias"
"Mom" my mouth parted a a bit but Four remain emotionless
Tris looked confuse so did Cris and Caleb by the look in their faces
My mother shifted her gaze at me and warmly smiled "Rei"
"I go by Val now mother" I aaid sternly
Me and my mother are quite similar, we have the sane hair and bridge nose but I have my father's blue eyes and my face is a mixture of them
My mother hated my eyes that's why she hates looking at me while me and Four are growing up
We had an awkward dinner, Caleb silently ate his dinner while me and Cris exchanged weird looks
"That's alright my intention is not to harm you" My mother said
"Then what? That to make us one of your slaves?" Four answered very sternly
"Tobias I—"
Four slam his fist on the table "You don't get to call ne that!" He stood up and storm out
Tris followed him, while I was left alone with Caleb and mom
"This is a really good grapes Mrs Eaton" Caleb slightly chuckled
I cleared my throat
"Val... Uhh how have you been?"
I look at her "Fine if you say so" I try to be cold as ever
My mother left us when we were kids, she left because of my father's abusive behavior but she promised us that she'll come back for me and Tobias but the day never came until Tobias was old enough to choose a faction and then he promised to come back to me but he was just like mom and I was left alone with my dad, until I became an Erudite.
After dinner I stood up from my balcony watching the city lights of the whole city, it was so windy so I wore a cardigan
"I see you found my favorite spot" My mother popped out of nowhere with a hot choco on her both hands
I gladly took the other one as she offers it
"Beautiful isn't it?" She smiled warmly
I just remain silent "You know I wanted to come back for you and your brother Val" She looks at me
"But I couldn't because I have no power against your father"
"Why didn't you look for us when were older?" I asked
"I was looking for you that's why they brought you here" She replied
"So many things happened mom" I look away from her and look at the city lights
"I know sweetheart" She hug me and my arm firmly
"I am so sorry" She whispered
"That's alright, at least I made it without you or dad's help"
She chuckled "Yes, you are a brave girl Valkyrie"
Just then I immediately put my hand on my stomach when I felt a spang of pain
"Argh" I groan in pain
"Val, what's happening?"
"The baby..."
