I turned back to face the computer screen and looked at it once more.  I knew that the images seemed familiar but I couldn't quite place where I had seen that face before.  Now it made sense, I've only seen Kate a few times and she wasn't someone I was close with.

"Huh" was the only word I could manage out as I didn't know why this woman would want to hurt me. I didn't know her at all and, besides seeing her once at the club and Marcus's house, I never spoke or argued with her.  I didn't remember giving her any reason to hurt me. Marcus excused himself and stepped out into the apartment hallway.

As the room fell silent again, I got up and followed him out through the front door.  I looked around and saw him standing off in a corner looking down at his phone.  I decided to shut  the door harder than needed in an effort to grab his attention and not surprise him. He lifted his head and caught my eye, holding my gaze as I walked towards him.

"How's your hand?" I gently took it and examined the bandages which were now covered in blood.  He withdrew it from my hold and slid down to sit on the floor.

"I should have never dragged you into my life, because of me you were hurt and almost killed" he looked toward the floor in defeat.  I let out a loud sigh and sat down beside him.

"I wouldn't say it was you who dragged me into your life.  More like I threw myself into it and you kindly helped."  I saw a small smile spread on his lips before it disappeared completely "I called you remember? And if it wasn't for you, I'd probably be sitting in a jail cell right now.  So don't you dare put this on yourself"

Marcus took my hand and intertwined his fingers through mine. I met his gaze once again and felt my stomach do flips as I saw his face near towards me. He pressed his lips against mine, giving me a soft and sweet kiss that I eagerly accepted. As he pulled away I felt my cheeks burn red.

Here I was, almost killed earlier in the day, and all I could think about was that kiss and how I wanted more.

Marcus chuckled at my embarrassment and pinched my cheek in a playful manner.

"C'mon beautiful. I'm sure the detective is going to have a few questions for us. Me especially" he pushed himself up with his good hand and turned to help me up.

"I'm fine. I can get up on my own" I mumbled as he pulled me up regardless of my protest.

"I know sweetheart, but that doesn't mean I can't help anyways" he gave me his handsome smile and continued to hold my hand as we walked back inside the apartment.

The scene in front of us looked a bit chaotic as everyone was chatting frantically, often talking over each other. I could see detective Monroe massage her temples as she tried to get everyone to calm down and answer the questions one at a time.

Michael was busy half listening and half typing away viciously on his keyboard. He was the only one who hadn't said a word.

"Ana, Marcus thank god you're back" Monroe stood up and instructed us to sit back at the table. She gave everyone else a stern look to back off and proceeded to ask us a serious of questions.

How do we know her, what was our relationship with her, when was the last time we saw her?

I had limited information for her, but Marcus managed to talk a lot. As he spoke about their previous arrangement, which some would argue call a relationship, I became angrier and angrier.

As He moved on and spoke about her breakdown and suicide attempt, I reprimanded myself mentally for being jealous of the two of them. I continued to carefully listen to all the events that occurred that led Marcus to be called to her home, her following hospital stay and her subsequent breakdown after Marcus left. With therapy, medication, and support. The medical team thought She was a changed woman and discharged her with a positive outlook on her behavior and wonderful prognosis towards her mental health.

Yeah.... A Prognosis to take me out and win Marcus back at the same time.
