two-bit pushed open the door and waited for me to walk in before shutting it. it was around 7:30, i had spent nearly two hours with two-bit. there were four guys in the living room, i recognized johnny, ponyboy, and dallas.

"hey two-bit. who's this?" the tallest guy looked down at me.

"this is jolene. she's a friend we met at school."

"nice to meet you jolene, i'm darry, pony's older brother."

"nice to meet you too darry." i smiled, happy to be meeting so many new people.

"hey jolene, two-bit, i thought you were already with soda and steve." ponyboy glanced up from the television.

"yeah, i should be, i was just wondering if anyone could drive jolene home?" two-bit asked.

dallas stared at me from the couch and volunteered before anyone else could say anything. "i can take her."

i gave him a slightly apologetic, but thankful smile and followed two-bit back outside.

we waited on the porch for a minute before dallas walked out, dangling his keys in his hand.

we walked down the porch steps and i said bye to two-bit. he walked around a corner as dallas and i walked towards a thunderbird. he opened the door for me and shut it after i had sat in.

"um, thanks for taking me home. i appreciate it." to be honest, dallas kind of scared me. i was fine talking to him before, but he didn't look too happy right now. i also didn't talk to guys often, only bob and his friends on occasion. hanging out with two-bit and meeting his friends made me realize just how little i socialize with others.

"it's nothing." dallas talked in a blunt tone, looking at the road.

"how was your day?" i asked, trying to break up the awkward silence.

"it was alright." he didn't even try to continue the conversation.

i took that as a hint and shut up, i didn't want to bother him if he was already irritated. i looked out the window and watched the trees whoosh by while fidgeting with my fingers. i pressed the sides of the middle joints of my fingers together over, and over, and over again. it was the time where the sun is about to set, but still kind of bright. it's hard to explain, but it's my favorite time of day.

"wait.. do you even know where i live?" i just remembered i hadn't even told dallas where i lived.

"yeah, i remember."

"how do you know that??" i kind of gave him a look.

"remember you came out of your house to yell at me for spray painting bob's house?"

"i was not yelling!" i said in an slightly offended laugh. i was kind of flattered he remembered where i lived. it was kind of strange, but still notable.

he finally looked at me. "sure, sure."

by that point, we were at my house.

"thank you dallas." i said, getting out of the car.

"you know you can just call me dally." he was slightly smiling, but i could see it more in his dark eyes rather than his lips.

"mm, i'll stick with dallas." i said giggling. "bye dallas!"

"bye jolene." he watched me walk through the door before driving off.

i actually wrote this chapter with the last chapter, but it got waaaay too long, so i just split it into two chapters. these two chapters took me so long because i would write, then just stop for multiple days at a time. i know i don't have many readers keeping up with my stories, but if you are, thank you and i love you so much. remember to listen to lana del rey and i'll catch you again next time!!
