"What?!" I exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes," my grandmother replied calmly.
"Actually, he's getting married to Sameen this Friday," my grandmother added.
"How can he do that?" I exclaimed, unable to comprehend.
"Didn't he consider the situation? How could he do this to Aunt Rubab?" I asked, feeling concerned.
"Well, Rubab and Usman haven't been doing well for a while now. Your uncle has the right to remarry," my grandmother explained.
"And what about Aunt Rubab? Is he going to divorce her?" I inquired.
"No, according to Islam, he can have up to four wives at a time. He's not leaving your aunt, but he wants to marry Sameen," my grandmother clarified.
"Okay, and what about Murtasim and Mursalin? Do they know? Are they okay with it?" I asked, wanting to understand the whole situation.
"They know about it and are fine with it. They've seen their parents' troubled marriage, so they understand the importance of starting fresh," my grandmother assured me. I hung my overcoat on the nearby rack.
"I know this is a lot to process, but there's nothing we can do about it. Everyone deserves a second chance, and who knows, it might work out well," my grandmother tried to comfort me.
"Nani, you said the same thing when Mama was getting remarried. It didn't work out for her, so why should we believe it will work out for Mamu?" I questioned, trying to reason.
"Your mother had other complications," my grandmother responded.
'Complications, you mean me' I thought to myself. If my mother were here, she would have agreed that I complicated her life.
"Anyway, let's not dwell on this too much. It's your uncle's decision, and he's an adult who can handle his own life. Don't worry too much, go get freshen up,have some food and get some rest. We have to go for shopping in the evening for the event this Friday." my grandmother said.
I obeyed her and entered the washroom to freshen up.Hey, I hope you like this chapter. Tell me in the comments how you feel about it.
