"Thankyou." Those were the words that escaped her lips, sending a jolt of shock and disbelief down my spine. Never before had I heard such gratitude, especially considering the circumstances. After all, I had just kidnapped her, and she had experienced a panic attack as a result. Either her mind was playing tricks on her, or perhaps she had a hidden agenda against me. Why else would she be thanking me. As I stared at her in astonishment, she delivered yet another bombshell with her next words.
"I'm sorry," I said. He was quiet and looking at me like he had seen a ghost. He was really shocked. Why is he acting like this? I just thanked him for helping me through my panic attack, and he's acting like I blamed him for it. Ignoring his weird and shocked expressions, I kept talking. "I didn't mean for this to happen, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to make a big scene. It's just that... actually, I got scared for a moment, so I reacted like that. But I don't usually act like that. It's just that... I was... I was just..."'Ah! Fuck. Why the hell am I blabbering.'
I took a deep breath and said, "All I wanna say is thanks for helping me, and I'm sorry for troubling you. I didn't do any of it on purpose."
He snapped out of his shock but didn't say a word. He started the car and began driving.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked.
"I want to go back home, please. Everyone must be waiting for me. They're going to kill us if we get married like this. Our families would have to face so much embarrassment if we get married like this. They are going to think we eloped and its going to cause a lot of problems. Please don't do this. Try to understand. If you do want to get married, please let's do it the right way. Don't do this, please," I continued, but he remained silent.
"Why do you want to get married anyway? "I said with a little bit of anger now since he was ignoring me. He didn't even react at this tone of mine.
"There are so many girls you can marry. Why are you after me? You're handsome and sexy, you can get any girl you want." I blurted out, and when he looked at me in disbelief, I realized what I had just said. I tried to think of something good to say as an excuse, but all I could come up with was, "I mean, you handle panic attacks well and you're nice, and you help others so... ," I mumbled looking at my lap.
