She exited the room, and I made the conscious choice not to follow her, as I believed it was necessary to grant her some personal space for the time being. I made my way to the bedroom and settled onto my bed, turning the lights off. I find solace in lying in the darkness, allowing my thoughts to wander in various directions. At that moment, I was contemplating how I would break this news to both her and my family. I lost track of time as I lay there, engulfed in my thoughts, when suddenly I heard the bathroom door open. For some reason, instead of acknowledging the person, I opted to pretend that I was asleep. Shortly after that, I heard a faint voice."Dekho tou zara sote hue kitne masoom lagte hain. Badtameez aadmi."
(Look at how innocent he looks while sleeping. Ill mannered man.)
I controlled the smile erupting on my lips at the contrast of words and the way she said 'Badtameez aadmi'.

Out of nowhere, I heard some rustling in the room, as if she was rummaging around, perhaps searching for her belongings. Curiosity got the better of me, so I discreetly glanced in her direction, and indeed, I caught sight of her frantically searching for something. After a futile attempt to find what she was looking for, she turned towards me, and in a split second, I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep. I could sense her approaching, and then she uttered...

"Ye mr. Kidnapper meri neend haram krke kitne sukoon se so rahe hain"

(This Mr. Kidnapper is sleeping so peacefully after ruining my sleep.)

"Now I have to wake him up just to get my belongings," I suddenly heard her say.

"Shazim," she called out my name, but I decided not to open my eyes suddenly.

"I told him not to talk to me or follow me, and now I am the one who is talking to him and coming after him," she whispered in frustration.

"Shazim," she called out again, but I decided not to respond.

Finally, frustration took over her, and she almost screamed my name. "Shazimmmmmmmm!"

I actually got scared and sat up. Steadying myself, I asked her, "What happened?"

"Where are my belongings? I need my phone now," she said.

"Why do you need your phone?" I asked.

"To watch Cocomelon," she said, being annoyed.

"What? Why do you want to watch Cocomelon?" I said.

"Because I am out of my mind, you idiot! Obviously, I need my phone to talk to my family. They must be worried. At least let me tell them that I am safe," she shouted.

"Okay," I said and stood up to grab her phone because I knew she wouldn't settle down unless she is able to inform her family.

I walked towards the other side table to grab her purse from behind it and took out her phone. She rushed towards me and tried to grab the phone from my hands but I pulled it back.

"You cannot tell them about our Nikkah. Just inform them that you're safe and will be returning home tomorrow morning." I said.

"Fine, but I want to have a conversation with them in private," she said, snatching the phone from my hand.
"No way, you can't have a private chat because I don't trust you enough," I said.
"Well, that's not my problem," she retorted.
"Yes, it is, because I'm not going anywhere," I replied sitting on the bed.
"Alright, fine then, I'll be the one to leave," she said.

She was just about to leave the room when I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me.

In that moment, she lost her balance and we both fell onto the bed.

It felt like time stood still as I looked into her eyes and she stared back into mine. My heart started racing, beating so fast it felt like it might burst out of my chest. One of her hands was in mine holding the phone, while the other rested on my chest as we got lost in the moment. However, our trance was broken by the sound of her phone beeping. She had switched it on, and that beep brought us back to reality. We quickly stood up, but I didn't let go of her hand. I sat back down on the bed and motioned for her to sit beside me. I told her to call her family, but I made it clear that she had to make the call while we sat here, or else I would take the phone back.
