It's been a week since the seat belt fiasco. Today, I have a super long 15-hour shift that ends at 4:00 a.m. It's only been 2 hours, but I'm already feeling tired. On weekends, I try to study and complete my assignments from medical school during my shift breaks. It's currently 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, and I haven't even finished one page of my assignment. I have to submit it on Monday, or I'm in big trouble! While I was stressing about my assignment and juggling work and studies, a coworker walked into the staff room and said, "Someone is here to meet you."
"What?Who?" I interrogated.
"They didn't give a name, but they really wanted to see you. I thought maybe it could be a guy from your home, like one of your cousins. So I asked the guy to wait for you." She replied.
"Okay." I said.I asked her where she told that guy to wait and headed towards the room she mentioned. As I entered, I was surprised to see him standing there. He must have heard my footsteps and looked up at me. A strange expression appeared on his face. I snapped out of my shock and approached him, saying, "Assalamu Alaikum." He replied with a "Walaikum Assalam." I assumed he might be here because of Sherry's injury. Curious, I asked, "What can I help you with?" He replied, "I actually wanted to talk to you about something very important." He said.
"Okay I am listening." I replied.
"I want to get married." He said. I was a little shocked and confused as to why he would say such a thing to me. In my confusion, I instinctively responded, "Okay, congrats I guess."
He looked at me like I was the dumbest person on this planet and said, "I want to get married to you." He emphasized on the word "you". I was so shocked that I couldn't even respond properly. All I managed to say was, "What?" in a shocked tone. He confirmed, "Yes." At first, I thought I misheard him, but then he again said " I think we should get married." He said this so calmly, as if he was asking for a tissue paper. I couldn't believe it."Are you insane? Why would I marry you? We've only known each other for two weeks, and our family connection is complicated. I don't even know your name. Did you even think before asking me this?" I wanted to scream, but I held myself back and instead asked him, "Why exactly do you think we should do this?"
"Because this is what I want." He replies. I let out a shocked scoff not being able to digest what he just said. What does this man think of himself I don't even know his name and he wants to marry me just because he wants to. Wtf.
"Marry you? After meeting you once? That's a brilliant idea! Let me just throw all caution to the wind! Excuse me mister I don't even know your name." I snapped back.
"Hi my name is Shazim." He said forwarding his hand for a handshake. The audacity this man has is just so frustrating.
"Come on, Saisha, don't be so skeptical. We had that instant connection, remember? It's like destiny. You know you can't resist my charm, Saisha. I'm the whole package! Who wouldn't want to marry me?" He said in a teasing way. This self obsessed bitch needs to be taught a lesson.
"Oh, Mr. Whatever your name is. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I think you'll have better luck finding someone who's actually interested in you because I simply don't care. So please go ahead and find yourself another lucky lady to shower with your so called "charm". And listen up. Don't you dare cross my path again." I said in a threatening tone and left the room.
I went back to the staff room to complete my assignment but this time my mind was occupied by his thoughts. How dare he ask me such a thing that too so casually like it meant nothing to him. I was about to call Hamna to tell her everything but got called on duty for an emergency.Time Skip
Finally, it's 4 am and I can go home and sleep. Today's shift was so hectic, I even forgot to eat dinner. I wish this internship wasn't so crucial for good grades so I could have quit, but since this hospital is linked to our medical school. I need to do well in practice here to pass my exams. I was lost in my own thoughts while waiting for my taxi outside the hospital, when suddenly I felt a man's hand on my waist.
I tried to turn around and look at who this was, but before I could do that, the man put a handkerchief over my face, covering my mouth and nose. I struggled to get out of his hold, but he was strong and captivated me in his arms. I tried to fight back for a few minutes, but then small black spots started to form in front of my vision. Soon, my vision turned black, and I felt my body being paralyzed.
