She was lying on the bed alone, mumbling in her sleep when she suddenly woke up anxious and covered in sweat . She was panting hard and could barely breathe. In a rush, she grabbed her phone and dialed a number. The ringtone echoed in the empty room until someone answered on the other side. A sleepy voice echoed in the room through the speakers of the mobile phone.
I woke up startled and drenched in sweat. I was gasping for breath because of the same nightmare I've been having my whole life. This nightmare makes me so anxious that I can't be alone. That's why I've been sleeping with my grandma since I moved in with my mom's side. But today, she's not here because she went to visit relatives after a recent death. The first thing I thought of was calling Hamna, my best friend for over seven years. We studied together in med school, and she knows all about my life and past traumas. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. After a few rings, she answered, sounding sleepy. As soon as I heard her voice, I broke into sobs and she immediately knew what was going on.
Hamna: Sash babe, please don't cry.
Saisha: He wanted to harm me, it wasn't my fault. *cries*
Hamna: I know, babes. Please don't cry. Don't stress over this. It's all over, so just relax, okay? *speaks softly*
Saisha: I know, but it haunts me. What I did haunts me to this day.
Hamna: It wasn't your fault, so stop being mean to yourself. He was the one trying to harm you, what you did served him right.
Saisha: No, but I can't overcome this feeling.
Hamna: Okay, listen to me very carefully now. We're gonna do something, okay?
Saisha: Okay.
Hamna: Good, now lie down and close your eyes.
Saisha followed Hamna's instructions.
Hamna: Now, think about something that will soothe your mind, okay?
As soon as she said that, an image of black eyes popped into my mind. I jolted open my eyes and looked at Hamna through the screen.
Hamna: What happened?
Saisha: Nothing, I was just thinking about that guy.
Hamna: The Collision Man.
Hamna had named the man I collided with as the Collision Man.
Saisha: Yeah.
I suddenly chuckled at her choice of words.
Hamna: Ooo, what were you thinking?
Saisha: Just that I felt he was very rude. He kept staring at me.
Hamna: Maybe because he thought you were rude for not thanking him for saving you.
Saisha: No, it wasn't like that. He kept staring in a weird way
Hamna: Ooo really? I think you should accept that you found him handsome. Sounds like you were quite captivated by those black eyes of his. But don't let his rudeness get in the way of your feelings. Maybe there's more to him than meets the eye.
Saisha: Maybe but just because he's handsome doesn't mean he can be rude.
Hamna: So you do accept that he is handsome.
Hamna said teasing me with raised eyebrows. Knowing that she would annoy me, I said bye and reassured her that I was okay before ending the call. As I lay on my bed, I couldn't help but think about him. He was weird and rude, but undeniably handsome. He had broad shoulders that I held onto when I fell, a toned body with muscular arms. It seemed like he worked out a lot. His jawline was sharper than a blade, and his eyes... oh my gosh, I completely forgot about the world when I looked into his black eyes. Despite his looks, I don't like him at all because of his rudeness, or maybe it's because of our strange connection through my uncle's second wife. However, I met his sisters and didn't dislike them, so it's probably his rudeness that gets in the way of my liking him. Lost in thoughts, I didn't realise when I drifted back into sleep.Okay so I know that some of you might not agree but short chapters and a fast-paced story can definitely make for an exciting and captivating journey. Maybe some of you will find this story to be very fast paced but sometimes, it's best told that way. I hope you're ready to dive in and see where this story takes us! 📚✨
