The past week at home has been a total chaos. I am having trouble focusing on work and my studies, with the recent marriage and Auntie Sameen shifting in with us. It seems like the house has become very quite, and the silence is making things even more difficult. It's tough when everyone is dealing with their own emotions and not talking to each other. The communication within our household has become quite strained, with even Murtasim and Mursalin not talking to me anymore. The situation is even more concerning as nobody in the house is talking to each other. I'm sorry that Aunt Rubab is not feeling well. She isolates herself in her room and even skips meals at times. Hopefully, she will come to terms with the truth and start feeling better soon. I also hope that the overall situation at home improves.
I'm currently at work, and it's 2:15 am. Just counting down the minutes until my shift ends at 3 am, so I can finally go home and catch some much-needed sleep. Since its the weekend, I have a 20 hour shift, we work longer, but on weekdays, we work for a short period of time so that we can attend our medical school. It's been a crazy 20-hour shift, but it's almost done! Just a little longer.
While I was lost in my thoughts, a fellow nurse walked into the staffroom and halted my thoughts.
"Hey Saisha, we have an emergency case of a four year old boy. His leg is broken. He needs immediate treatment. Please come with me." she said.
"Did you ask them to fill the form?" I asked.
"Not yet, the man who arrived with the child is very stressed and kind of angry. Obviously, since his first priority is to get his child treated." She replied.
"Okay, as soon as the child gets treated ask them to fill the form and pay at the counter." I told her while following her to the patient.
"The kids is in the next room. Could you please go and check on him? I think we might need to get an X-ray done, so I'll find someone to take care of that." she said well pointing towards a door.I nodded and walked into the room but froze as my eyes landed on him. He also looked shocked at seeing me here. I came out of my thoughts when I had a little child crying. I composed myself and moved towards him.
" Asalamu Alaykum." I greeted Anushay who was standing right beside him.
" Walykum Asalam." she answered.
"What happened to him?" I interrogated, while examining Sherry's leg.
"He fell from the stairs." this time he replied.
I didn't respond to him and looked at Anushay.
"I think an X-ray would be required." I told her. As soon as she nodded her head the nurse entered the room and informed me that the X-ray room is ready. I asked Anushay to follow me with Sherry but instead he picked him up and said.
" Main chalta hun aapke sath."
(I will go with you.)
I looked at him with a bit of shock, but then decided to nod. I exited the room and started walking towards the X-ray room with him trailing behind me.
We did a quick X-ray and with the help of that I was going to bandage him up. he kept crying since he was in so much pain.
"Sherry, look at me." I said when he didn't budge, he looked at me with his cute face and big black eyes that were filled with tears.
"Do you want to hear a story?" I asked him softly. He gently nodded. I Smiled at his cuteness and replied.
"Hmmm, If you let me bandage you up, I'll tell you a story. Deal?" he nodded once again, making me smile at him.
"Good boy." I said softly.
I started treating him and said.
