Leah's P.O.V
It's been hours since they left to get my baby girl. I sat next to my mothers while they talk animately about activities to do with both my girls. Pfft! As if! No one is going near them until i have my fill of quality time. They can do their planning after that..... with me in tow.
"I can see the gears in your head spinning!" I snapped out of it and looked towards my mother who spoke a second ago.
"And stop biting your fingers!" She added while slapping by hand. 'Okay, ow?!'
"They've been gone for hours-"
"It's only been an hour!" My mother-in-law responded.
"Exactly! And if you add an 's' at the end, that turns it into 'hours'."
Both my mother and mother-in-law blink at me before facing each other and then back to me with my mother-in-law adding, "I've seen so many things in my life, but a stupid logic just takes the cake."
My own mother turn to mother-in-law and responded with, "She takes after her father!"
My mouth hangs open at that. I was so offended while they both busted out laughing.
"Yeah? Well, you're not spending time with my babies. You can forget about your plans." I stated with as much authority as i could muster.
"Oh honey, we were just kidding! But it still won't change our plans." My mother replied with a grin.
I rolled my eyes, sat back down and ignored the both of them.
Time flew by and before i knew it, my father-in-law was in the room talking to my mother and mother-in-law.
"What's happening?" I asked anxiously.
"They're on their way home, my dear." He answered.
"Have they found Silvia?"
"I cannot answer that. You just need to prepare yourself." He said.
My breath hitched. I feel like the world is spinning around. 'Did something happened to my baby?' Suddenly everything turned black and i could faintly hear my mother screaming for my name but that is as much as i heard before i passed out.
I woke up with a startle and i tried to pull myself up. "You need to lay down a bit longer. You've been stressing out lately." My mother said.
I teared up staring into the walls "How can i not? For over twenty years, i struggled to come to terms with losing my baby..." I thought over everything and i held her gaze, heart pounding.
"Mom... I don't think i can handle it anymore if Dom comes back without her. Please don't let my hope be strip away." At this point i'm full on snot crying.
"I know, honey. Hold on for a little longer." She encouraged as she wipes my tears away with her thumb.
"They're here!"
As soon as i heard those words, i flew out the sofa and ran out the safe bunker in a heart beat.
My mother yelled for me to slow down, but i just couldn't. I need to see for myself. As soon as i made it outside, i spotted Dominic standing tall next to the car.
I frantically search for that familiar face, but i couldn't spot her in the crowd. I hyperventilated and ran up to Dominic.
"HOW COULD YOU? YOU TOLD ME YOU'LL BRING MY BABY HOME." I screamed. I didn't realise i was shaking him as well until he stopped me.
"Hey, hey, look at me." I looked at him and noticed him smirking. My blood boiled.
"She's okay. I brought both our girls home." He added. 'Oh my goodness! She's here?!'
"You brought them both home?" He nodded.
"Together?" He nodded again. This time there's a twinkle in his eyes. I'm still not processing this.
"Are you sure you brought both of them home?" He cup my face in his hands and said, "Of course i did. I told you i would. They're both in the car right now. Our little Silvia is eating though."
I internally scream with happiness and glued myself to my gorgeous husband. Someone cleared their throat and i pulled away embarrassed while my husband sported a cheeky grin. My eyes narrowed on him, and his grin got bigger.
Suddenly the car door open, Sofia stepped out and was instantly hounded by her friends.
Then the other door opened. 'This is it!' I walked closer to the car and watched one leg out followed by another. Then a head full of curls pop out of the car and there she is. My beautiful baby girl. The very same one i saw at the cafe in Sydney. Overwhelmed with emotions, i ran and wrapped my arms around her crying my heart out. I finally get to hold her. I would've loved it if it was the baby version of her but this is better than nothing.
After a while, i felt her hands on my forearms and i heard Dominic telling me to let go. "Let her go? What a ridiculous thing to say." I muttered.
I took a step back and toom a good look at my baby girl. 'Goodness, she looked exactly like my grandmother and taller too. Tall like her brothers.'
"Oh look at you. How are you so tall?" The moment that question left my lips, Dominic cleared his throat. I know what he's implying. "Nah not from you."
Everything after that was a blur. My father is who i felt sorry. He saw a younger version of his own mother in my daughter. Everything down to the T. The hair, the figure, her face to her eye colour. It's like my Grandma copied herself onto my daughter and i was the printer.
While everyone made it inside and the allies left us alone to bond with our daughter, my father, out of nowhere said, "Your Grandmother had this motocycle in my garage." Everyone stopped talking and just stared at my father. "I've been holding on to it." He continued. Again, silence. "I have been working on it and, it still works." He concluded. He didn't even have to say another word when Silvia piped up, "Are you suggesting that it's mine if i want it, 'cause i do want it."
Before anyone could chime in, he yelled, "Settled!".
My boys and all the cousins started complaining and my father had to shut them all down.
"Excuse me! I asked all of you if you want it, you said, 'Oh Grandpa, that is an old century bike. We don't want that old thing'." By then, everyone had busted out laughing. I nearly spilled my tea.
"So, my dear Silvia, you can have it."
"Yes! Can we check it out now?" Silvia asked.
"NO!" Was the instant response from my husband and i. My father looked my way and saw my expression before saying, "Maybe later. When your parents calm down."
I rolled my eyes while my mother and in-laws laughed.
At least Silvia didn't make a fuss, for now at least.
We moved on to the next subject, until Silvia decided to hit the hay. I got up to follow her, but my family stopped me.
The audacity!
"I know you want to be close to her, but she looks overwhelmed. I think we need to ease off a bit, give her some room." My Mother added.
I sighed and watch my daughters make their way out of the living room.
"Honey, our girl is still hurt about what happened. If she's anything like us, she's probably forming a revenge plan." Dom stated and i felt my anger bubbling. 'And i will be with her every step of the way to destroy those bastards.'
