I had not been expecting a police car to appear outside the warehouse. Nor had I been expecting it to furl up into a three-story high robot which began shooting at me. Add a jet with guns and well, this whole situation was unexpected.
"Did you know there were Decepticon Jets?" I asked Ray, looking at her.
"No," Face pale, Ray shook her head. "But he's gaining on us."
Bumblebee dodged to the right, narrowly missing another gunshot. Ray shrieked in alarm.
Hastily the autobot sped onward, then pulled down a narrow alleyway, the rooftop of the boarding buildings blocking the view of it from the sky.
For a few minutes we were silent-the only sound was our racing hearts and Bee's purring motor.
Then Optimus' voice boomed over the autobot's stereo. "Bumblebee, I have managed to lose Barricade. Has Starscream left?"
"Beep-beep!" Bee replied quietly.
"He's gone," Ray added. "Bee lost him."
"Good," I noticed Optimus' voice had a slight tone of relief in it. "We will meet at the original planned point of rendezvous."
"Sir, yes sir!"
The radio switched off and Bumblebee slowly crept out of the alleyway. "It;s time to party!"
"Uh ... .this is the point of rendezvous?"
I looked around the beach. Above us cars roared across the golden gate bridge.
We were tucked just beside the pillar, near the edge of the ocean shore and out of the view of any looky loos.
Bee opened his two front doors and beeped impatiently.
"Fine, we're getting out," Rolling my eyes I climbed out. Ray laughed as she shut the door and then walked around Bee's Camaro form to stand by my side.
"At least nobody can see us," She grinned, glazing around. "Though it is a bit noisy." The roaring of cars was almost deafening as they zoomed miles above us.
Optimus rolled in and whirled up into his autobot form. "It seems as though we must expedite our plans."
"Plans?" I looked at the Prime for an explanation. "What plans?"
"The relic, the Allspark," Optimus Prime explained gravely, blue optics blinking with slight worry. "We must acquire before it falls into the wrong hands-Decepticon hands."
"Well where is it?" Ray pipped in, cruising.
"A boy has it," Optimus replied. He shot a laser out of his topics and an hologram of a very familiar teenage boy was displayed in front of us.
"Hey, that's the boy we met earlier, Noah!" Eyes lighting up, Ray explained.
Great! Another run in with Mr. Hot shot. Aloud, I said. "Are we sure he has it? I mean we don't even know who he is."
Bee beeps rapidly.
"Ooh!" Ray nodded. "So that's his name."
My eyes widened as I glanced at Ray. "Wait, you understood him?"
"Yeah?" She frowned. "He said 'Samual J. Witwicky' was the boy's name."
"Ray," I put my hand on her shoulder, not believing what I was hearing. "You...understood....him."
"I...I did...." Now Ray's green eyes widened behind her black glasses. She looked from Bumblebee to Optimus. "How?..."
Bee shook his head, throwing his hands up.
As he went beeping and whirring in Cybertronian I noticed Ray's neck was glowing. Stepping closer, I scrutinized her shirt. The silver autobot necklace she was wearing-it was glowing a bright green.
"I think...I think you can understand him because of your necklace" I said thoughtfully. "Look, every time he talks it glows."
Ray glanced down at her pendant. "Bee, say something again."
"Beep-beep-eep!!!"
Ray's cheeks flushed and she clutched her necklace which was glowing brightly. "Noah, you're right!"
"Wait, what did he say?" Eyebrows raised, I noticed her face was rose pink.
"No-nothing," Ray looked at the ground. Then she hastily changed the subject,
Bumblebee whirred again and Ray looked up at him with a grin. "Oh, I got it from Mirage on our last adventure-the one with the Maximals, remember?"
Her eyes widened. "Wait, Mirage. Where is he? Is he with the others?"
"Yes!" I added. "Where is he? It's been like forever."
"He is on a reconnaissance mission-doing some surveillance I requested of him," Optimus explained. "But he should be back present-"
Suddenly a loud revving sound ripped through the warehouse. Turning I held up my hand to shade my eyes against the bright headlights as a car now drove straight towards us!
Seeing the car zooming straight for us, I reacted swiftly. Heart racing I grabbed Ray's arm and pulled her back just in time.
The car shot past us-a blur as it whirled around and slammed straight into a wall.
Smoke from the car was kicked up and I coughed, waving my hand.
"Who was that?" Ray frowned, still shaky from the close call. "They almost hit us!"
The smoke cleared and we both saw a grinning familiar gray autobot lying upside against the stone wall. "Hey guys!" he waved. "Ray, Noah! Sup Dude, Dudette?"
