(Somewhere in an undisclosed location....)
"Somethings popping up on the radar!"
At the alarmed voice, I set another crate on the ground outside the temporary barracks.
"What? What do you mean Epps?" Hastily I turned and jogged over to a muscular man in camo gear.
Glancing over the man's shoulder I frowned, "I thought that...scorpion thing buried itself underground hours ago."
"It did," Epps flicked the screen. "But this is giving a different signal...its energy is spiking."
The ground began to shake. Cries of alarm went up and I whirled around. My eyes widened as I beheld a large black tornado of dust gathering a few miles away.
It was growing closer and closer by the second. Never had I seen anything travel so fast!
Picking up my radio, I hastily spoke into it as I kept my eyes on the storm. "Everyone brace yourself there..."
I had no further chance to speak because the storm was already upon us.
Wind tossed about and I could not see anything. "Epps! Are you there?!" I shouted out.
There was no reply.
My voice was buried in the roaring of the dark storm.
All at once there was a loud cracking of thunder-than the storm suddenly began fading into the ground-within seconds it was gone ...all was quiet.
But in the place of the tornado there stood a young man and woman-with wide eyes staring back at us.
"Uh Lennox?" Epps came up behind me, speaking in a quiet tone. "Do you see that?"
"Yep," trying to regain my startled composure, I nodded. "Yeah I do."
"Did they just?" He looked from the sky to the two kids.
"Come from the storm?" Shrugging, I began walking towards the two newcomers. "Only one way to find out."
