Heather made her way to the front gate, waiting patiently for her friends. She had her hair tied back in a low ponytail and the same outfit she was wearing at the park. Leo walked up first, he was dressed in a black sweater and a pair of ripped jeans. Miley walked up next. She had her hair separated to where it fell just past her shoulders. She was wearing a pale red cardigan with a black t-shirt underneath and a pair of black sweatpants. After Miley paid, they walked over to the bleachers, sitting in the lower middle row. They had walked in a few minutes before the game and decided to grab a bag of popcorn from the concessions.

“You couldn’t have decided to get popcorn before we sat down?” Heather asked.
“Well, I didn’t want popcorn then. Plus, I paid for it.” Miley answered.

Leo chuckled in response to the other two and made his way to where they were sitting. He looked up and noticed Oliver sitting not too far from where they were. He decided not to mention it and just took a seat. None of the three understood anything about football, so they remained quiet for the entire game. Once the game ended, they made their way to the gate to meet up with Vance.

“He said he’d text me when he started making his way over.” Leo said.
“Are you sure your dad doesn’t mind you staying out longer?” Miley asked.
“He’s not coming to pick me up so it doesn’t matter. He’s more than likely already sleeping anyway.”
“How are you getting home then?”
“Vance’s parents are gonna drop me off.”
“Do they know about you two?”
“No.”
“He hasn’t told his parents?”
“No? We’ve not even been together long, and I asked him not to.”
“Uh guys, sorry to interrupt but Oliver is here and he seems to be making his way over here.” Heather said.

Miley and Leo turned around to where Heather was pointing, rolling their eyes as they watched him walk towards them. They hoped he wouldn’t bother them long, but they all knew that was unlikely.

“What do you want?” Leo asked harshly.
“I want to know why you’ve been avoiding me.”
“Because you're a terrible person.” Miley replied.
“I was asking Leo, not you.” He spat.
“And? You don’t get to be a jerk to my friends and then expect me to talk to you. And you don’t get to dictate who answers you.” Leo said.
“So I don’t deserve a reason for you ignoring me?”
“No. No you don’t. And you don’t get to ruin my night by demanding an answer, either.”
“What’s going on?” A voice called from behind Oliver.

The four looked in the direction of the voice to see Vance walking over to them.

“Who is he?” Vance asked, standing beside Leo.
“My ex-boyfriend.” Leo answered.
“The one you told me about?”
“Yeah.” He mumbled.
“Why are you talking to them?” He spat, looking up at Oliver.
“Because I can. Who are you anyway?”

All of them remained quiet, exchanging worried glances with each other. Vance cleared his throat and straightened his back.

“What?”
“Leo’s my boyfriend.” He said.

Miley, Leo, and Heather smiled in reply, shocked by Vance.

“Break up with him.” Oliver said.
“I’m sorry?” Vance laughed.
“Break up with him, or I’ll tell the whole school you two are dating. It’s clear that not many people know.”
“I’m not gonna do that.” He replied.
“Vance-” Leo whispered
“No. I’m not breaking up with you just because of this jerk.”
“This is gonna be great.” Oliver murmured.

Oliver rolled his eyes and walked off, glancing back at the four of them. Vance hugged Leo, walking him to his car and not saying anything else.

“Do you think Oliver will actually out them?” Heather asked.
“I’m hoping he won’t. But he’s done some crazy things before.”

They said nothing else about it, they just hugged and walked back to their cars. Matthew had come to pick Heather up, Corey and her mom were resting. Once they made it home, they quietly walked into the house, trying not to wake anyone. Heather walked quietly through the hall and peered into her brother’s room. He was bundled up in his space blanket, laying in the middle of his bed. She smiled softly at her brother, making her way to her room. She changed into a pair of plaid pajama pants and a plain white t-shirt. She kicked off her shoes, climbing under her comforting sheets and lying her head on her pillow.
