It was officially Christmas Eve, and as Leo kept reminding the three as they walked through the crowded mall, the day before his favorite holiday.

“There’s just so many cool things to do during Christmas.” He exclaimed.
“Presents are obviously the first one.”
“Miley, there’s more to Christmas than presents.”
“I know, like candy!”
“I doubt you need more candy. It makes you hyper.”
“Okay? At least I'm not tired all the time.” She teased, putting her hands on her hips.
“You are so childish.”
“I haven’t had an actual Christmas gathering or anything for like 4 years. We obviously open presents but it’s always a Secret Santa thing.”

“I don’t think i’ve ever done a secret santa.” Heather said.
“We did one year, but it didn’t work out well like, at all.” Miley replied.
“The last time that we did anything remotely memorable for Christmas was right before my mom died.”
“Wait, your mom died? I didn’t know that. I’m so sorry.”
“Oh it’s okay. It happened a while ago. I don’t really like talking about it.”
“I get that.”
“We should totally do a Secret Santa thing for Christmas.” Miley suggested.

“Well, we’re already at the mall. Maybe we should split up and buy something for one of the others?”
“How are we gonna decide who to get what?”
“We aren’t. That’s what a Secret Santa exchange is.”
“Right.”
“Go get something directed to someone else, and then tomorrow we can go to the park or somewhere else and try to guess who the gift was for?”
“Sounds great.” Vance replied.

They exchanged nods of agreement, each walking off into different parts of the mall. Heather bought a gift card, meant for Miley. Miley bought NFL cards, meant for Vance. Vance bought a navy blue sweater, meant for Leo. Finally, Leo bought red hair ties, meant for Heather. The next day, they met at a small cafe not too far from their school. They put the bags in the center of the table, each bag was somewhat correlated to what was inside.

“Thanks for the sweater, I’ve been meaning to get a new one.” Leo said.
“I didn’t really know what to get you, but you mentioned needing a new sweater a bit ago, so I just kind of hoped you hadn’t gotten one yet,” Vance replied.
“That’s great and all, but now I can go shopping!”
“Miley, there’s only 15 dollars on that card.” Heather laughed.
“Shush. I can still spend money.”
“You’re gonna buy candy or something with it.” Leo said.
“Obviously.” She replied.

They all thanked each other for their gifts and made their ways back home. Heather walked into her house, ruffling her brother’s hair from behind the couch.

“Sissy! You're back!”
“Hey buddy.”
“What did you get?” He asked, peering over the couch.
“Leo got me some new hair ties.”
“Ooo! Can I see?”
“Sure Corey.”

She opened the bag and showed them to him, sliding them on her wrist.

“Those are pretty.” Her mom said from the doorway.
“Hey mom. Yeah they are, I really like them.” She replied.
“Me too!” Corey said.

Heather laughed and put the hair ties back into the bag, grabbing her brother from the couch. She spun him around a few times until neither of them could see straight.

“Alright CC, we’ll play more tomorrow or something, okay?” She said, putting him down.
“Okay!” He replied, running off to his room.

Her and her mother laughed, watching the rowdy kid run sideways down the hallway.
