It was now late Monday afternoon, and Heather hadn’t gotten out of bed yet. She wanted to stay in bed forever, but she knew that she would have to talk to Jada and her friends soon. Two days had passed and she hadn’t talked to her friends yet either. She wasn’t sure what to say, or how to even bring it up. Heather’s plan was to wait it out a few days, and then tell them. She decided she would talk to her friends first, then she would talk to Jada. She’d talk to them at the end of the week, that way they had the weekend to think about it. Though, Heather doubted that two and a half days would be enough for them. She rolled over, blocking out the sunlight that glistened through her curtains. Her door opened, and she groaned.

“Heather! Why weren’t you at school today?” Miley complained, leaning against her door frame.
“Why are you in my house?” She countered.
“Your mom let us in.” She replied.
Us?”
“Hey Heather.” Leo said, hovering behind Miley.
“So, why weren’t you at school?”
“I don’t want to talk about it right now.” She mumbled, laying her face into her pillow.
“Ugh. Come on! Did something happen at the party?”

She groaned, deciding to just tell her friends. But, she wouldn’t do it here. Not with the chance of her mom hearing. Heather had come out to her mom, but that doesn’t mean she has to know about her love life.

“Okay. Fine.” She said, “Let me get changed then we’ll go to the park. I’ll tell you guys there.”
“She like, definitely kissed someone, right?”
“Let’s not assume, but she definitely did.” Leo replied.

After Heather finished getting ready, they made their way to the park. They walked around the playground, playing around in the spring wind that blew through the park.

“So what were you gonna tell us?” Miley asked, pulling up dandelions from the ground.
“Well, I kissed someone.” She stuttered.
“Oh my god. I knew it.” Leo replied.
“Who was it? You have to tell us.” Miley begged.
“I don’t know if I should.”
“Oh come on.” He said.
“It was Jada.” She murmured.

Miley and Leo stopped, looking at each other and then back at Heather.

“What?”

She bit her lip, drawing a small amount of blood. She regretted saying anything, but there was no point in trying to take it back now.

“Jada. She kissed me.”
She kissed you?” Miley questioned.
“Yes? Is- is that weird?”

She scoffed looking over at Leo, seeming to ask for approval without saying anything.

“I can’t believe you.” She said.
“What?” She asked. “You say that like I shouldn’t have done that. You never told me what happened between you guys so do you just expect me to just never talk to her?”
“I didn’t know we had to give you a reason. You’ve seen how she treats us!” She yelled.
“She was never a jerk. I can admit she had an attitude, but we’re teenagers. It’s rare to find teens who don’t.” Heather replied.

Leo took a deep breath, nervously glancing between the girls.

“Miley, let’s just go back to-”
“No. She kissed Jada and doesn’t see the problem with it.” She interrupted.
“Actually Jada kissed her. There’s no reason-”
“No, Leo, there is a reason.”
“Well maybe if you would tell me what that reason is I would see the problem with it.” Heather replied.
“Okay Heather. You wanna know what she did?” Miley said.
“That’s what I just said.”

“When Leo came out last year she said some pretty crappy stuff to him. She went off on him about how it was weird and then didn’t talk to us again. That’s why she isn’t our friend anymore.”
“Some people don’t have as great of a family as others. I’m not trying to excuse her behavior but-”
“Just leave it Heather.”
“Miley, I’m trying to reason with you.”
“I'm leaving.” She said, rolling her eyes. “Are you coming Leo?”
“I’m sorry. I’ll try and talk to her.” He mouthed, following Miley.

Heather took a deep breath, dragging her hand down her face. Her first plan didn’t go well, but she hoped her second would go better.
