They approached a beach bar with a few tables in front and Tap suggested they stop for light refreshments. It turned out that the proprietor knew Chet's parents so after asking how they were and how things were at work he made a jug of non alcoholic fruit punch with ice and they all sat at a table beneath the shade of a coconut tree sipping their cool drinks while watching the tourists baking themselves in the hot afternoon sun.

Tap was glad they had come to Chet's parents today and even though it had been a bit of an emotional roller coaster for him the day was proving to be very pleasant and relaxing. If he could find a property by the beach, somewhere where tourists couldn't bother him then it would be perfect.

He could imagine himself writing while sitting beneath a tree like this and Chet would bring them both a cool drink ... wait, where the hell did that come from? Could it be that he really was attracted to Chet, so much so that he saw them having a future together?

Tap looked across at Chet who was chatting to the bar owner and every so often he would smile or give a little laugh at something the other man had said, he really was cute Tap thought to himself.

He looked back out to the gulf and enjoyed the stunning views while thinking about what he would be doing if he were still in America and there was no comparison. He had definitely made the right decision in coming back to Thailand, yes he loved it in the states and he had some great friends but it felt different here, it felt like home.

An hour later they were saying their goodbyes and promising to come back soon and then they headed back to Chet's parents. By the time they returned, Chet's dad was home from work and as soon as he saw Tap he recognized him.

"sorry to hear about your parents son" he said.

"thankyou sir" Tap replied respectfully.

"sir? don't call me like that, call me por" he patted Tap on his back.

"very well por" Tap responded smiling.

"it's great that you're here Tap, even better that you managed to drag Chet away from work and brought him to see us" Chet's mae said.

"mae... Tap didn't bring me, I brought him" Chet replied.

"but if it wasn't for Tap you wouldn't be here would you?" she added.

"well no, I guess"

"in his defense mae, I've seen him at work and he is always busy" Tap said.

"tell me Tap, does he look after himself? does he eat well?" she asked.

"well I've only been there a few days so I'm not quite sure but I cooked him breakfast yesterday and we had barbecue last night but from now on I can make it my responsibility to make sure he eats regularly" Tap said.

"you ate breakfast together?" Chet's parents looked at one another in surprise.

"it just happened like that mae, I was acting as his guide for the day so seeing as he is staying in the cottage next door to me we had breakfast together" Chet replied.

"Tap is your neighbor?" Chet's dad asked smiling.

"it's worked out well" Tap said.

"it must be destiny you both finding each other again after all these years" Chet's mum said.

"it was just coincidence mae" Chet said.

Chet helped his mum make dinner while Tap sat with Chet's father and listened while he reminisced about the old days.

"I'm so glad you boys met each other again Tap, make sure to visit us again won't you and just so you know, you have my blessing" he said.

"I'm sorry I don't understand" Tap replied.
