——

Harumi sat in her cozy apartment, bathed in the soft glow of the lamplight, staring at her phone. It had been two days since Lloyd Garmadon had left for his business trip, and she missed him terribly. They had been inseparable since they had started dating, and now, with him halfway across the world, a sense of loneliness enveloped her.

The clock on her wall read 9:00 PM, and she knew it was already 3:00 AM where Lloyd was. Six hours ahead – the time difference was always a challenge, but they had managed to make it work so far.

With a sigh, she picked up her phone and dialed his number. As it rang, she fiddled with the pendant around her neck – the one he had given her as a symbol of their love. Finally, she heard his sleepy voice on the other end of the line.

"Hey there, beautiful," Lloyd murmured, his voice still heavy with sleep.

Harumi's heart skipped a beat. "Lloyd," she whispered, "I miss you so much."

"I miss you too, Harumi," he replied, the weariness in his voice giving way to warmth. "How's everything back home?"

Harumi glanced around her apartment. Everything was in its place, but it felt empty without Lloyd's presence. "It's quiet," she said, her voice tinged with sadness. "Too quiet without you here."

Lloyd chuckled softly. "I know the feeling. It's strange being in a hotel room all alone."

They talked for hours, sharing stories about their days and laughing at each other's jokes. Harumi found comfort in the sound of his voice, even though it was just through the phone. She could almost picture him, lying on a hotel bed in some far-off city, talking to her in the middle of the night.

As the conversation flowed, they both realized that time had passed quickly. It was nearing midnight for Harumi and almost 6:00 a.m. for Lloyd. He yawned on the other end of the line.

"Sorry, babe," Lloyd said with a hint of guilt in his voice. "I need to get some rest before my meetings start."

Harumi nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "I understand. Take care, Lloyd. And good luck with your meetings."

"Thanks, Harumi," he replied. "I'll call you as soon as I can. Promise."

They exchanged their sweet goodnight wishes and hung up. Harumi placed her phone on the nightstand, feeling a mix of emotions. She was glad to have talked to Lloyd, but the void he left behind still lingered.

Over the next few days, Harumi kept herself busy with work and other activities. She tried not to think too much about Lloyd's absence, but he was always on her mind. She missed their shared dinners, movie nights, and the way he'd surprise her with flowers just because.

One evening, as the sun set outside her window, Harumi decided to surprise Lloyd with a video call. She knew it was daytime for him, and maybe seeing his face would make her feel closer to him.

She dialed his number and waited anxiously. After a few rings, the call connected, and she saw his face on the screen. He looked tired but smiled as soon as he saw her.

"Harumi! What a surprise," he exclaimed.

"Hey, Lloyd," she replied, trying to hide the tears forming in her eyes. "I just wanted to see your face."

Lloyd's expression softened. "I wish I could be there with you right now."

"I know, me too," Harumi said, her voice quivering.

They spent the next hour talking through the video call. Harumi showed him her apartment, her favorite books on the shelf, and the view from her balcony. Lloyd shared glimpses of his hotel room and the city outside. The time difference no longer felt like a barrier as they talked and laughed together.

As the conversation drew to a close, Harumi couldn't help but feel a bit better. Seeing Lloyd's face had brought a sense of closeness she had been missing.

"I love you, Lloyd," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.

"I love you too, Harumi," he replied, his eyes filled with affection. "I promise I'll be back soon."

Over the next few weeks, Harumi and Lloyd continued their nightly phone calls and occasional video chats. The time difference remained a challenge, but they cherished every moment they had together, even if it was through a screen.

One evening, as the sun set in her city and the day dawned in Lloyd's, Harumi received an unexpected call from him. She answered quickly, concerned by the urgency in his voice.

"Harumi, I have some great news!" he exclaimed.

Harumi's heart raced. "What is it, Lloyd? Tell me."

"I just wrapped up my last meeting, and they want me to come back earlier than expected," he said with excitement. "I'll be on a flight tomorrow. I can't wait to see you."

Tears of joy welled up in Harumi's eyes. "Really? That's amazing news, Lloyd!"

They spent the rest of the evening talking about their plans for his return. Lloyd promised to make it up to her for the time they had spent apart. The happiness in Harumi's heart was immeasurable, knowing that she would soon be in his arms again.

The following evening, Harumi stood at the airport, her heart pounding with anticipation. She watched as passengers disembarked from the arriving flights. And then, there he was, walking through the gate with a tired yet joyful smile on his face.

Harumi rushed toward him, and they embraced tightly, not caring about the bustling airport around them. Time had tested their love, but it had only made their bond stronger.

"I missed you so much," Lloyd whispered in her ear.

"I missed you too," Harumi replied, tears of happiness streaming down her face.

As they left the airport together, hand in hand, they knew that no amount of distance or time difference could ever keep them apart for long. Their love was stronger than any obstacle, and they were determined to cherish every moment they had together, grateful for the simple joy of being in each other's arms.
