Refuge of the Mind

You've crept into my thoughts, oh so sly,
And made my subconscious your home to lie.
A realm where I am the hunter, you the prey,
But you wander around, carefree and gay.

An oasis of peace, a place of solace,
But you choose to create chaos, a cruel malice.
You send my world crashing down,
And leave me in despair, with a heavy frown.

Oh, refuge of my mind, why do you betray?
Why do you choose to cause dismay?
I wish for peace, for calm and rest,
But you bring turmoil, a constant test.

So I'll fight back, with all my might,
And banish you from my thoughts, out of sight.
For I deserve a refuge, a place of peace,
Where my mind can rest, and all troubles cease.
