Chapter 14

"You can't do this to me!" Lady Joohyun told her father.

Lord Bae was taken aback by the sudden rise of voice. His daughter was rebellious but he didn't expect her to be this... aggressive. He's been trying to match his daughter with well-mannered men but all of them got rejected without a second thought.

"Just do as I say for this one. He's an important figure. The Duke. Marrying him will give you a wealthy life forever."

"I'm not like you. I want to marry someone I love. Not for the title and wealth."

"Okay but can you at least meet him for tea? Who knows you two might catch each other attention."

"Urgh! Fine." Lady Joohyun rolled her eyes and left.

Wonwoo stood in front of the mirror as he readjusted his collar. Mingyu entered the Duke's room and his eyes instantly landed on his master. He approached the latter and helped Wonwoo with his outfit. Mingyu smiled at Wonwoo through the mirror but the Duke seemed distant.

"What with the fancy outfit? I don't remember you have anywhere to go today." Mingyu asked.

"I should have told you earlier about this but I can't find the right time."

"What's wrong?"

"Lord Bae is coming today for some tea." and Mingyu turned pale.

"What should I do? He must have found out that I'm here. He's gonna kill me." Mingyu panicked.

Wonwoo grabbed Mingyu's face, trying to calm the man down.

"He doesn't know you're here. It's okay. Everything will be alright."

"Then why he will be coming here?"

"He wants to introduce Lady Joohyun to me."

Mingyu's expression turned from terrified to confused. Then realization. And then jealousy.

"So I need you to hide in here until I come. Don't get out no matter what." Wonwoo said as he caressed the cheek.

"So that you can have some alone time with Milady without being interrupted by me." Mingyu pouted as he looked down.

Wonwoo tilted his head at Mingyu's reply.

"Don't tell me you're jealous." the man stayed silent.

Wonwoo let out a chuckle as he gave a quick peck on Mingyu's pouty lips.

"I have my eyes on you and only you. And you told me yourself that Lady Joohyun had a lover who is a woman."

Mingyu whined and hugged his master. Wonwoo rubbed his lover's back as he tightened the hug. They stayed like that for a while before Wonwoo broke the hug. The Prince left the room and there was Mingyu all alone in the room.

He wandered around the room, looking at the books that he couldn't read. He grabbed one book and opened it at a random page. Looking at the scribbles that were called writing, Mingyu wished he could read so that he knew what the book was saying. Maybe I can ask Master to teach me how to read. Mingyu thought to himself.

A moment later, the sound of a carriage could be heard approaching the mansion. Mingyu peeked outside the window, anticipating the guests. He saw Lady Joohyun exit the carriage and that's all. Lord Bae was not in sight. That's when Mingyu realized that Lady Joohyun was all by herself.

"Milady!" Mingyu said excitedly as he ran towards the door.

As he grabbed the doorknob, he stopped. Mingyu remembered that his Master ordered him not to leave the room. But it was just Lady Joohyun. And it's been a while since he saw Milady. He let go of the doorknob and walked away as he sat on the bed.
