"A sparrow cannot wish to fly high with the hawk. Who am I, a lowly servant, to love a royalty like you, my master."
Living as a servant made Mingyu feel unworthy of the love he received. But his new master who lived in solitary his entire...
Wonwoo woke up to the empty bed beside him. His hand slowly caressed the spot where his lover was supposed to lie down. It was just one night without Mingyu and he already missed the latter. They agreed to not see each other on the day of their marriage. It was a belief for a long-lasting marriage. But Wonwoo didn't care about all that. He just wanted to be with Mingyu.
A knock on the door gained his attention. Wonwoo sat up excitedly. The door opened and Seungcheol came in. Wonwoo let out a silent sigh and he disappointedly pouted.
"Are you excited for your wedding?" the butler asked as he entered the bathroom to prepare the bath.
"Which wedding?"
The Duke leaned against the window as he looked at the backyard. All the maids were busy setting up for the wedding. Some of them were serving the food on the side. Unlike the Crown Prince, he decided to do a garden-themed wedding in his backyard. He only invited the important people in the kingdom so he hoped the crowd was small. He didn't like it when too many strangers came to his home.
"The bath is done." Seungcheol said as he went to prepare his master's attire.
The Duke got into the bathtub and immersed himself in the warm water. If Mingyu was here, he would tease the latter in so many ways. Fuck, he missed his lover so much. After a while, he got off and dried his body. He left the bathroom and his butler helped him with putting on the suit. He looked at himself in the mirror.

"Do you think Mingyu will like it?" he asked Seungcheol.
"You're about to commit adultery and that's your concern?" the butler let out a chuckle.
"Both me and her are about to commit to it. What's there to concern about?"
They headed to the backyard to check the setup. The guests would come in a few moments. And the Duke was impressed that his maids managed to do all this. He should give them a raise.
An hour passed and the backyard was full with the guests. The Duke stood beside the priest as he looked around. He saw the Crown Prince and his new wife standing at the side. He saw the King but not the Queen. Why was he not surprised?
The music started and all eyes turned to the other side of the garden. Standing there, with her hand wrapped around her father's, Lady Joohyun in a white dress looking majestic. Her title as the most beautiful woman in the kingdom really suited her. The Duke smiled as he looked at his soon-to-be wife.
With Chan walking at the front as the ring bearer, the bride walked down the aisle with everyone looking at her in awe. Lord Bae gave his daughter's hand to the Duke as they faced the priest. From a room on the second floor, two pairs of eyes peeked behind the curtain. Mingyu who was hiding and Seulgi who was accompanying him looked at their lovers getting married from afar.
The Duke petted Chan's hair as he took the ring. He slid it on Lady Joohyun's finger and they kissed. Mingyu gripped his fists as he watched in pain. He knew it was just an act but damn it's hurt.
