🤪Taeyeonkai- Long Night

Yeonjun was up at 11:30pm when he normally was sleeping. He had a class the next morning but Kai still wasn't in their dorm. The blonde had been avoiding him ever since Yeonjun broke up with Taehyun. He couldn't figure out why either. He liked Kai. Kai liked him. They should be together but the blonde ignored him instead.

He was actually starting to think his roommate hated him. That was until their mini fridge got filled with all of Yeonjun's favorite drinks. Kai even put his favorite snacks on top of it. They continued to do small, loving, gestures towards one another, all while barely communicating.

Kai felt weird about the whole thing. He didn't do anything wrong but guilt consumed him every time he saw Taehyun. He couldn't morally be with Yeonjun until he was sure Taehyun was okay with it. Afterall, he was the one who pushed them to be together in the first place. The irony of him being the reason they were apart, wasn't lost on him.

The blonde was at Taehyun's dorm. They were having a deep conversation about repairing their friendship. It wasn't going to be easy. Neither wanted it to end. Taehyun warned that he wasn't going to be enthusiastic about them dating. He didn't support them as a couple but he also didn't want Kai to be miserable because of him. Who was he to get in the way of his happiness? Kai was the type of person to put his friend's happiness over his own. That was something Taehyun knew well. After a lot more talking, Taehyun gave him permission to go after Yeonjun.

Kai should have been happy. He would've been if it wasn't for the face Taehyun made when he said that. If all his friend needed was time then time was exactly what he was going to give him.

Yeonjun saw Kai come in shortly after midnight. He sat up with the intention of hugging him. The blonde went straight into the bathroom instead. The door closed on his face. This had been going on for two weeks now and he was over it. When Kai stepped out of the bathroom, he grabbed his shoulders and held them tightly. "Why do you keep ignoring me? What did I do?! Huh?!"

"I can't be around you."

"Why?!" Yeonjun's heart broke. "Did I do something?! I'll fix it! Is it because of my habits?!"

Kai gently brushed Yeonjun's hands off of his shoulders. "I can't date you until I know Taehyun is okay with it. It would feel wrong to me."

"Okay... I get that but why are you avoiding me?"

"Because every time I see you, I want to kiss you Yeonjun." That made his heart stop for a moment. It pained him to say it out loud. "I want you so badly but I also want to maintain my friendship with Taehyun. It's my fault you guys broke up."

Yeonjun softly held his cheek. "Baby... it wasn't your fault."

Kai had to stop himself from leaning in. He couldn't stop staring at Yeonjun's lips. It was too much. He peered out the window to see the dorm building his other friend was staying at. Sleeping here tonight would be a mistake.

Yeonjun tried to kiss him. Kai moved his head so he only got his chin. He stood there defeated. It was 1am. He left the room to go find his ex. Taehyun was about to get a piece of his mind as he aggressively knocked on the door.

Beomgyu groggily opened it. He gave him a nasty glare when he realized who it was. "What do you want?"

"Is he here?"

Taehyun sat up. "Beomgyu it's okay. Let him in."

Beomgyu stepped aside. He fell back into his blanket to try to fall asleep.

Yeonjun was mad. He stood at the foot of his ex's bed then demanded to know why Kai refuses to be with him.

Taehyun looked at him with confusion. "What are you talking about? I literally gave him permission to be with you an hour ago."

"What?" Yeonjun was dumbfounded. "He told me you weren't okay with it!"

"Because I'm not! You dumped me! You're already moving on and it's been less than a month! You dumped me for my best friend Yeonjun! What the hell did you expect?!" Before Yeonjun could say anything else, Taehyun stood up. "I love Kai. I want him to be happy so I said he could be with you. If you're expecting me to be supportive about you leaving me for my best friend, then you're a fucking dumbass. You should've known Kai was loyal to a fault. If you didn't know that obvious thing about him then you shouldn't be with him. Now you may leave."

Yeonjun left as miserable as he entered. He thoroughly washed his hands when he got back to his dorm. The blonde was having a restless dream. He kept tossing and turning. Yeonjun knelt down next to him when he heard him mumble something.

Kai sleepily whispered "I love you Junnie..." The blonde's face tensed for a brief moment. He started crying in his sleep.

Yeonjun crawled under the blanket to hold him. He could smell how fresh the bedding was. Kai's conditioner smelled better. He gently placed a kiss on his forehead. It was softer than he expected it to be. He continued to hold him until the tears stopped. When Kai was peacefully sleeping, Yeonjun stared at the ceiling. He pathetically whispered "I love you too" into the darkness.

Kai woke up to the sound of Yeonjun's little whistle when he sleeps. He began to wonder why he didn't wake up earlier. Normally, he was a light sleeper. It was odd that the feeling of someone crawling into his bed, wasn't enough to wake him. He enjoyed where his head was. It was resting comfortably on Yeonjun's chest. His right leg was wrapped around his waist too.

Guilt began to wash over him. Kai sat up as slowly as he could. He did his best to avoid Yeonjun's body as his feet touched the floor. He then made his way over to Yeonjun's bed. The clock on his dresser said it was three in the morning.

Unable to sleep, Kai checked his phone. Taehyun sent him a message telling him he really was okay with it. The time stamp said it was sent only five minutes ago. He went into the hallway to call him.

Taehyun did his best to convince Kai to think about himself for once. He wasn't okay now but he assured him he would be. His best friend deserved someone who loved him. His last boyfriend was so shitty. He reminded him their friendship wasn't over. Not by a long shot.

Kai felt so much better after their call. He walked back into his dorm to see Yeonjun sitting upright on his bed. "Hi."

"Hi..." Yeonjun hopped off then walked up to the blonde. "Thanks for coming back. I was starting to think you wouldn't." Yeonjun saw Kai briefly looking at his lips again. His stomach tightened from the growing tension between them. He stared longingly into those amber eyes. "Can I kiss you?"

Kai nodded. He felt Yeonjun's lips against his own. He froze at first. He was really nervous. They were no longer just roommates. This was the start of something wonderful. He started to relax as his lips drew into a small smile. He then tightly held Yeonjun's waist. Their kisses deepened. Those beautifully full lips were his to taste.

Yeonjun wondered why they hadn't started dating sooner. He pulled away with his arms loosely around the blonde's neck. "I love you Kai."

"I love you too."

Yeonjun dragged him into his bed. He kissed his lips again then pulled Kai into his chest. It only took a minute for them to fall asleep.

Their alarm rudely woke the couple up two hours later. Kai tried to climb out of Yeonjun's arms, only to get pulled back into them. He kept kissing him until his boyfriend was awake enough to kiss back.

Yeonjun loved the sound of his boyfriend's morning voice as he whined, "Junnie we need to get up. We have class." He glanced over at his alarm clock and realized that was true.

The couple got ready quickly. They were happier than ever as they walked hand in hand to their chemistry lab.

Taehyun saw them in the distance. He wasn't angry or filled with spite. They looked cute together. His best friend was happy. That's all that mattered. He began to smile to himself. As he walked to class, he knew everything was going to be okay.
