The next morning, Violet decided that it might be fun to take a walk through the town. She stepped outside and enjoyed the summer morning air and began walking down the street. Her house was further from downtown Maycomb than most of the houses, as the street seemed to end not too far from her left, so she took the sidewalk right and enjoyed the quietness of the early morning.

After a few minutes of walking, she saw a tall, broad-shouldered man walking out of his house. He looked around the same age as her, maybe a bit older, and he had glasses and was wearing a suit that gave him a more handsome appearance, and she realized when he turned his head toward her, and he felt a smile appear on his face, that gods above, he was handsome.

It was an unusual sight to see anyone you hadn't seen before in Maycomb, everyone already knew everyone, so someone new in the town was one of the last things he had expected. The woman was wearing a flowy dress and had wavy, reddish brown hair, and in his opinion, she looked beautiful, almost like a goddess was just taking a walk down the street like an average person.

"Good morning, I'm afraid I haven't seen your face around here." The man said to her. His voice was deep and rumbly, almost like dark, sweet coffee in a way, with a slight southern twang. "Oh, I just moved here the other day." Violet responded. She couldn't help but smile at him. "Well, welcome to the town," He said with a polite nod. "My name is Atticus Finch, I'm Maycomb's lawyer." He held his hand out and she did the same. "My name's Violet, it's nice to meet you. I'm a schoolteacher." She shook his hand. His hand was firm and felt sturdy yet soft and gentle at the same time. "Nice to meet you too, Ms. Violet." He returned.

"I think I met your kids yesterday" She started, continuing the conversation, "a boy and a girl came running up to me and asked if I had met a man named Atticus yet." "Ah, I see. Yeah, that sounds like something my kids would say." He said with a smile. "They seem like two bright little stars, I can't wait to have them in my class." Said Violet, smiling. "Thank you, they're a little energetic, aren't they?" Atticus asked, saying it in a way that Violet knew that he couldn't always keep up with them. Violet simply nodded in agreement. "Well, I'll let you go off to work now, it was nice meeting you Mr. Finch." Said Violet. "It was nice meeting you too, Ms. Violet." Said Atticus before they both went their own separate ways.

After the whole interaction, Violet sat on her porch and felt confused. He was handsome to her, very handsome, and she felt an unexplained aura of comfort when she was standing close to him, but she knew she couldn't act on these feelings, because there was absolutely no way he felt the same way back or wanted to do anything, because he was probably happily married and had a wife waiting for him to come home. She admired everything about him, the suit, the glasses, his hair, his voice, and somehow even his demeanour was attractive to her.

After a few moments, she shoved those thoughts away. "No." She told herself. "He's just a good looking man, and that's all there is to it, stop thinking about him." She didn't want to think about him in that way, because he wasn't attractive to her, he was just a gentleman who looked good, but not someone to fall for.
