The next morning Caroline is sitting on the couch, Ember is next to her holding her hand and rubbing her shoulder soothingly. Damon hands her a glass of blood and she takes a shaky sip as Stefan arrives.
"What happened?" He asks.
"Go ahead, tell him. You're gonna love this." Damon drawls.
"I saw Katherine today." Caroline informs him.
"Where?" Stefan demands.
"At the Grill. I just stopped by to gawk and... quasi-stalk Matt." she admits and proceeds to tell them how Katherine had waylaid her in the grill. First pretending to be Elena and then once discovered threatening to rip the town apart until it rained blood if they didn't give her the moonstone tonight, at the masquerade ball.
"She wants to do it in public. Killing Mason threw her off guard." Stefan comments.
"She's running scared. What she did to Jenna was desperate. She's out of tricks." Damon agrees.
"We can't underestimate her. We have to play this smarter than her." Stefan reminds them.
"Can we just give her the moonstone so she'll leave?" Caroline asks.
"No." Ember shakes her head. "Who knows what kind of damage she will cause if she has it."
"Agreed." Damon decreed. "Katherine's not getting dick. I've had it. I'm gonna go to the masquerade ball and I'm gonna kill her, tonight." He snapped.
"You're not gonna kill her." Stefan objected and Damon gives him a mocking look.
"Don't give me that goody-goody crap."
"You're not gonna kill her." Stefan repeats.
"Really?" The older Salvatore demands.
Stefan nods. "Because I am."
Damon looks at Stefan for a moment and then they both nod.

Later that morning Ric and the Gilbert siblings and bringing Jenna home from the hospital with the help of Matt.
"Easy. Grab the door Jer." Ember directs.
"Hey, stop fussing, I'm fine." Jenna assures them.
"The doctors said that you have to take it easy." Elena reminds her.
"Yeah, you don't want to rip your stitches, hemorrhage and die, alright?" Jeremy jokes.
Jenna looks at Matt. "Yeah, the only thing I'm gonna die from is embarrassment."
"No." He disagrees.
"I walked into a knife. How does somebody do that?" She groans.
"It was a freak accident. It happens." Ember tries to comfort her.
"Yeah, I mean,) I've done it like twenty times at the Grill." Matt smirks and Jenna laughs, then winces in pain. "Okay, I'm being nice." He agrees.
"Careful. Easy, easy." They help her to the couch.
"What should I do with this?" Jeremy asks about the bag of food.
"I got it." Ember takes the bag and Matt stays with Jenna while the Gilbert's go to the kitchen.
"So what are we gonna do?" Jeremy asks.
Elena is being deliberately obtuse. "Make lunch."
"No, about Katherine." HE insists and before Ember can fill them in on Carolines morning Elena steamrolls ahead.
