Waiting

At the Gilbert Residence Elena opens the front door to find Stefan and Damon standing on the front porch.

"Hey. Uh, can we talk?" Stefan asks almost awkwardly.

"Why?" She asks suspiciously.

"We went to see Katherine." Damon admits.

Elena sighs. "Come on in." She steps aside and Stefan and Damon enter the house.

Earlier that morning at the Fell's Church Tomb Damon and Stefan walk down the stone steps into the tomb and look at each other.

"Let's do it." Damon tells his brother and they grab the stone door. Damon counts. "1,2,3." And they pull the stone door away from the entrance of the tomb. They place it to the side and approach the entrance carefully. Stefan and Damon lean against the sides of the entrance waiting for Katherine. A moment later she comes around the corner, looking hungry and pale.

"Please... come on in. There's plenty of room for all of us." She offers with a snicker.

"I'd rather poke my eyes out." Damon informs her.

"Mmm, they're such pretty eyes." Katherine taunts.

"We're here for the moonstone." Stefan tells her.

"Feel like tossing it over?" Damon wonders sarcastically.

"Tell you what, you get your little witch to hocus pocus me out of here, you can have whatever you want." She offers.

"I thought you liked it in here. Nice and safe where Klaus can't get to you." Stefan asks.

"I've had time to reconsider." Katherine sneers.

"Meaning you're hungry." Damon smirks.

"I'm starving, Damon. And dirty. But above all, I'm bored." Katherine is slowly getting closer to the entrance, stumbling and grasping at the wall as she does so. "At least running from Klaus wasn't boring - so here's the deal. You get me out of here, you get the moonstone and I'll disappear from Mystic Falls forever." She offers stopping in front of them just on the other side of the magic barrier.

Stefan and Damon look at each other and Katherine turns and starts to walk away. "Let me know what you decide." She calls out as she holds up the moonstone and stumbles back into the darkness of the cave.

At the Gilbert Residence Elena, Damon, and Stefan stand around the island in the kitchen, talking.

"You don't believe her, do you?" Elena demands.

"No, of course not. We just want the moonstone." Damon tellers her.

"According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the spell that Klaus wants to break." Stefan shares.

"No spell, no doppelgänger sacrifice. Ergo, you and Ember live." Damon explains.

"Where is Ember?" Elena asks. "I expected her to be home by now."

Damon shrugs and smirks. "With any luck, still in bed passed out in a sex coma."

Stefan rolls his eyes and Elena gives him a disgusted look. "Ugh! Could you not! That's my sister!"

Damon shrugs. "Suit yourself, she's actually adorable. Curls up in a little ball, steals the covers..." he sighs wistfully clearly messing with Elena and Stefan.

"The moonstone, How do you destroy it?" She asks in a annoyed voice, changing the subject.

Stefan leans on the counter. "By releasing it from the moonstone."
