The Mystic Falls High School guy is covered in red balloons and Bonnie is blowing up more for the 80's decade dance while talking on the phone to Elena.

"Where are you two? I told Caroline that I'd take her place at decade dance prep, but none of the rest of you showed." She asks.

Elena picks up a bag of chips from next to Matt and puts them on the table while Matt and Jeremy are playing a multiplayer shooter game on the TV.

"I know, I'm sorry. We had to, though." Elena explains. "I have Jeremy under house arrest because Kol wants to kill him, and Klaus wants to take him on some vampire-slaying road trip. Since neither of them are invited in, it's the only place I can keep him safe. Ember is pretty much glued to Damon's side till we get him un compelled so she's can't even come trade off with me on guard duty."

"Why does it sound like you're under fire?" Bonnie asks as the gunfire on screen reaches new levels.

"Apparently I'm living in a fraternity house now." She glares at the boys.

"I'm training." Jeremy calls out.

"Me, too." Matt agrees.

"Train yourself to do some dishes, and put these weapons away before someone tries to use one on me." Elena orders and Matt gives her a thumbs up and a grin.

"Well, it's hard for me to look forward to this dance while my best friends are trapped in their houses." Bonnie points out.

Elena walks into the kitchen. "Listen, I have a plan to end all of this. I want Jeremy to kill Kol." She explains.

Bonnie stops blowing up balloons and listens. "You want Jeremy to kill an original?" She whispers.

"Think about it. Kol's sire line must stretch to the moon by now. If Jeremy kills Kol, every vampire that he's ever turned, not to mention everyone that they've turned, will die, which means the hunter's mark will be complete and we'll have our key to finding the cure." Elena explains.

"I'm on my way, we'll figure it out. We can call Em, she can research while babysitting Damon." Bonnie looks around the gym. "Do you think Caroline will notice if there's only 89 red balloons?"

Elena laughs. "Actually, probably yes." Elena moves to wash her hands in the sink and gasps as the water burns.

She drops her phone in pain and Jeremy and Matt stand up. "Elena!" Jeremy calls out.

Elena picks up her phone.

"What happened?" Matt asks walking towards her.

"I don't know. There's something in the water." Elena looks at her hands which are red and blistered and watches as they slowly heal.

Bonnie is walks down the hallway talking on the phone as she leaves the school. "Are you serious? You dumped vervain into the water supply? Where did you even get it?"

Her father is on the other side of the call. "I have my sources. I'm also reinstating the curfew and canceling all town events."

Bonnie slows down. "Dad, there's a dance tonight."

"Not anymore." He corrects.

"Are you serious?" Bonnie hisses.

"Honey, I'm trying to protect you, not punish you. The well-being of this town is my job now." He tells her.

"No! Dad, it's mine and I've been doing fine without you getting involved!" She is yelling now.

"You've been doing fine? Would you like me to read you all the names of the people who have gone missing or died in tragic accidents, in your senior year alone? Head straight home please, we're having a family meeting." He hangs up the phone.
