In the basement Ember and Elena are waiting for Elijah to wake up. Elena glances out of the door nervously when suddenly with a series of violent jerks he revives. Elena and Ember rush over to him as his color returns and he is confused when he sees Elena first.

"Elijah." She prompts.

Elijah gasps. "Katerina!"

The twins exchange a worried glance.

Ember leans forward. "Elijah! That's s Elena. And it's me, Ember!"

"Oh, my God." He whispers and closes his eyes. Elena moves closer to help but his body suddenly spasms and he gets up with vamp speed gasping for air.

"I can't-I can't breathe! What's happening to me?" He demands a rushes to the door but slams into the doorway. Ember rushes over to his side and helps him stand with a arm around his waist. "I can't... I can't be in this house." He gasps

Elena realizes. "You're not invited in."

"Then get me out of here." He demands and slams into another wall and then disappears. Elena and Ember runs after him and race to the front door where Elijah is crouching outside. He stands up and rushes at them but is stopped at the threshold, unable to enter. "What happened?" He demands.

"Shh!" Elena motions to show him that Stefan and Damon can hear.

Ember whispers. "We'll tell you. Not here. Can I trust you?" She asks.

He leans in and whispers too. "You tell me little witch? Can I trust you?"

She gives him the dagger she had removed from his heart and he takes it carefully.

Stefan wakes up with a start and notices Elena's not there and looks around confused. He goes downstairs looking for her.

Damon walks out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee in his hand.

"Have you seen Elena?" Stefan asks.

"Uh, no. Stefan. She's your girlfriend." He points out.

"Oh yeah! Well where's yours?" Stefan asks and starts dialing Elena's phone.

Damon glares at him. "Ember didn't stay last night." He admits.

"Hey, it's me. Where are you? Call me." Stefan leaves a message for Elena and hangs up.

"And considering how collectively pissed off and upset they were last night, your not the least bit worried that neither of them are here in the one place that offers protection from Klaus?" Stefan asks and turns to check the library. He passes the basement door and notices that it is open and rushes over to it to investigate.

Damon sees his sudden move towards the basement and puts his cup down and follows him. Stefan arrives at the cellar door and sees that Elijah's not there as Damon appears behind him.

Damon groans. "No, she didn't."

On a road heading towards the outskirts of town Elena is driving and parks her car on the side of the road. Elijah is in the passenger seat drinking from a blood bag. Ember is sitting in the back seat watching the original closely.

He can feel her stare and glances back at her.

Elena looks over at him. "You look better."

Elijah asks. "Where did you get the dagger?"

Elena sighs. "I'll tell you everything. But we have to work together, Elijah. I need your word."

Elijah laughs shortly. "Your ability to make demands has long passed."
