"How was your day at the office yesterday?" Virat asked on the phone as he packed some of his stuff in a kit bag for his match."It was good, though I haven't submitted any of my reports. By the way, tell me how was your day?" Anushka said, moving around the kitchen. While on the call with Virat, she accidentally dropped some dishes.
"What happened?" Virat asked, concerned.
"Oh, nothing. Dishes fell on the floor," Anushka said, starting to collect the broken pieces.
"Are you in the kitchen? And are you cooking something?" Virat exclaimed. "You are cooking something?" he asked again.
"Okay, I know I can't cook as well as you, but that doesn't mean I can't cook. I can make a good breakfast, and that's enough for me to survive," Anushka defended herself, while Virat chuckled on the other hand.
"Has le has le, Gar aa phir tuje hi khana banana hai," Anushka said, smiling.
"By the way, I am hanging up now. I'm going to the hospital. Maa and I decided to have breakfast together. Plus, I'm also running late for the office. So, bye! Take care! Best of luck for the match," Anushka said, packing breakfast for herself and Virat's mother.
"I have a press conference before the match. Wish me luck for that first. Tum media wala ko bhi shanti nahi hai," Virat said.
"We all are not the same," Anushka said, chuckling. "Don't worry, you will manage it. And after all, you have to learn to manage it. You will be in the Indian team soon," Anushka said, getting in the car.
"Tujhe itna bharosa kaise hai?" Virat asked casually.
"I know," she smiled softly on the other side, and he knew she was smiling. "Now go for the press conference; otherwise, you will be late." She added.
"Okay, bye. Take care!" Virat said, ending the call.
And this is how things between Virat and Anushka are.
They are friends, good friends.
At this point in time, we cannot state them as a perfect couple, but they were definitely good friends who cared about each other. They were there when one needed the other. They are not in love with each other at the moment, but they were definitely a light to each other's darkness.
The circumstances that brought them here are not easy, and accepting a relationship with a person you never thought you would be with is hard to accept. Still, they are accepting and moving forward with it.
They are surely a light in each other's lives. For Virat, there is a person who looks after him, with whom he can share all his happiness and sadness. Now, he has someone with whom he can have some relief, someone with whom he shares his excitement.
And for Anushka, she doesn't know anyone else as understanding as Virat is with her. His patience, care, and friendship are what Anushka is grateful for.
"Good morning!" Anushka exclaimed from the door, raising breakfast in her hands.
"Good morning, gorgeous!" Virat's mother said excitedly.
"Come on!" Anushka mouthed, making dishes for both of them. She passed Saroj Aunty her dish and waited for her to taste the food.
"Better?" She asked, with hope in her eyes as Virat's mother tasted the food.
"Improving a lot, little chef!" Virat's mother said, taking another bite and also feeding Anushka.
"That's..." Anushka said while enjoying the food. "Sooooo good!" She patted her own shoulder.
