It had been just a week since I was living in St. Petersburg. My only "friend" was Charlotte from next door. I had seen her, like, 4 times though. And in three of them we had just waved to each other. School was going to start in a week and I hoped to find friends.
In a sunny day, Charlotte asked me if I wanted to go to her house, and I said yes. When I arrived, she seemed to be worried about me. Like if my face told her I was feeling bad. I started thinking about many ways to hide my sadness to have a good afternoon with her, since she was that nice to me even though we had met a week before. What if she wanted to do something specific and my face ruined it? What if...
- Are you alright? - She asked, making me loose my thoughts. That made me smile, because I really was trying to loose them.
- I'm fine... - I answered, but it was clear it was a lie. I had always been really bad at lying
- No, you're not. I mean, I know we don't even know each other that well but I really want to try to help you with whatever you need here. - That hit me like a punch in my stomach. She really was a good friend. - Now, tell me, what's going on?
- I don't know if I'll be able to make friends... I'm just so lucky that you introduced yourself, because otherwise I wouldn't even have you as a friend.
- Don't you blame your parents for making you move here? I mean, this is the best place ever. Beach, Sand, Heat... but I don't really think you're that happy...
My parents had been actually really good to me. They gave me the newest phone and newest watch, together with a brand new wardrobe. It was just that they couldn't buy me friends. I explain that to Charlotte.
- Sorry. That was an idiot question. What school are you going to go to?
- St. Pete College.
- Really? - she says almost yelling - That's the school I go to!
- No way!! - That made me absolutely happy.
We spent the whole afternoon talking, and I was feeling absolutely better when I walked back home.
