It was almost overwhelming to stay home for that much time, without leaving, without hanging out. Eventually the twins would come over or I'd go to their house, but only eventually.
There was one day, though, that was different. Charlotte texted me once. She was just asking if I was alright, but it felt special, because, again, there was that spark of hope that one day she'd become my best friend again. Or at least my friend.
I answered. And then I asked if she was fine. She said yes but I didn't actually think she was. Wherever she was when the attack happened, she was way closer than me to the attacker. It kinda surprised me that she didn't get hurt. However, I had a new distraction: my geography teacher had assigned me to help the new girl, Ella, with the content. Ella liked to study, so it was sorta easy. She was nice and kind. She was also taking online classes so we would eventually meet after class in a cafeteria next to her house. One day, she agreed to even visit the twins with me, which I liked a lot. I wanted us to be one of these school groups that everyone knows. I had never been popular. The twins were some kind of popular, just for the fact they were twins, but I don't think they were popular in a good way, due to all the weird questions people asked them, like "do you get your period at the same time?", like, who asks someone else these stuff?
