When summer vacation started, Leah and I were hanging out way more than Charlotte and I. Leah would say few things about her though. I didn't ever ask for any of them what was wrong again, because that caused a fight between me and Charlotte and I just didn't want to fight again. It was 10pm in my first day of vacation when Charlotte texted me, saying that she was sorry and asking if I could meet her at the park the next day. I didn't answer. I didn't know if I wanted to meet her, since she refused to answer a simple question of mine. I was already tired so I just left my phone there and watched TV.
The next day I was home alone as usually when someone knocked at the door. I had forgotten that I had said I'd meet Leah! I went upstairs and got changed really fast. But when I opened the door, it was not Leah, it was Charlotte.
- You didn't text me back - She complained.
- That usually means the person doesn't want to see you - I said, without thinking.
- Listen, Rachel, I know you think it is nothing, you're thinking that me and Leah just had a simple fight or whatever, but it is not even close to that. I am telling you. Take care, because she is not a good person.
- Well, she's being nicer than you so far, so don't worry. I'll get over it if she stops being friends with me someday.
- That is far from what I mean.
- What do you mean, then?
- I mean... I mean she's... She's a...
In that moment I felt happy. I was about to know the truth about what happened between both of them, but when I thought Charlotte was going to answer, she ran away. I should have known it! She was probably pranking me! In that moment, I decided not to talk to her until she told me the truth. I texted Leah and she asked if I wanted to go to the beach with her, but the beach was far away and I was pretty sure that my parents would freak out if I went there alone, so I had to say no. I though I'd make a skincare day so I went to the bathroom to grab a face mask when the doorbell rang. I picked it up, but there was nobody there, just a book. I immediately picked up the book, because it said "to: Rachel". My parents were talking about books a few days before, so I thought they had bought it for me. I started reading it. It was a thriller about a murderer. I really liked it. I was in page 400 when my mom called and asked me to prepare dinner. I had been there for 5 hours! I got up and took a shower, before I got in the kitchen and started preparing it. My parents arrived 40 minutes after it, so I had it ready when they got there.
