- My name is Leah. What's yours? - The girl asked me. What was she doing at school at that time?
- Rachel. - I answer - Nice to meet you!
Leah looks at me for 10 entire seconds before saying:
- I have to go! See you around!
When I started thinking about what she had to do at 7:40 at school, Charlotte surprised me, entering by the door right next to me.
- Hey! I knew you'd be here early so I thought I'd surprise you
- You really are the best friend ever, aren't you? - I answer. I really think that. No one had ever been so nice to me. Not that I remember, at least.
- Have you got the permission to get out of the school when not in class?
- No. - I answer. I didn't even know that existed
- Well, you could ask your parents for it! I have no problem in coming early every day, and we could go to the coffee shop next door and hang out there until class starts!
- I'll ask them. - They had given me a lot of stuff since we moved, but I don't think they would just let me go in and out of school whenever I wanted. - I'm just not sure they will give it to me.
- I'm pretty sure they will!
We went on talking until 9, when school started, but our first class wasn't together, so we went to different sides. I was surprised when I saw Leah was in my first class.
- Hi. I must have been very weird that time. Sorry. Wanna start over? - She asked
- Sure. - I answer
- What class do you have now?
- Science. You?
- Science!
- Great, because I have no idea where it is
She laughed and asked me where I thought it was. I tried to guess, but I didn't seem to get it right. When she asked me to look behind me, I saw a sign in which was written "science". We both laughed and entered the class.
- You are late. - The teacher didn't seem very happy. - Where were you?
- Come on, teacher. It was only 5 minutes! - Said Leah
- Fine. Get a seat.
The class went by really slowly, but I had written a lot of things when it ended. Leah, on the other hand, had paid no attention at all.
- God, Rachel! It is just the first day of school! Why did you write everything down? - She seemed kind of concerned about it.
- Well, I guess I just like to. - I answer
- Fine. But don't worry too much. Tests here are not that hard.
When we were walking down the hallway, we saw Charlotte, who at first smiled, but seemed a bit worried when she saw Leah. She said nothing, though. My next class wasn't with her either, and I had just found out it was with Leah.
When we got there, Leah asked:
- Do you want to have lunch with me?
I said yes, and we talked a lot in class. I had found another friend! When lunch time arrived, I asked her if we could also invite Charlotte. She made a face and said:
- Charlotte? Is she your friend?
- Yeah, we live right next door to each other!
- That is... nice! Um, yeah, I guess we can invite her too.
- You don't seem like you want to...
- I'm just a bit tired. I have a headache. Seriously. Invite her.
We met Charlotte in the hallway next to the restaurant and she said she had other plans for lunch, so it was just me and Leah. When we were filling our plates, Charlotte appeared and said she had changed her mind, and would really like to have lunch with us. Very weird.
We sat at a 4 people table and started eating. Both of them kept looking at each other, staring.
- Are you going to tell me what's going on? - I asked, kind of mad.
- Nothing is going on, Rach! everything is just fine! - Apparently, Charlotte was also very bad at lying.
The rest of the day went by absolutely quickly, which meant I had to go back home. My parents were still not there when I arrived, so I had a snack and watched TV for hours.
