"I don't remember the part in the plan where we said kill Elena Neves, Cipher." I barge into her meeting room after cleaning up the dead body of someone I once knew and lived with, out of the 'confinement' Cipher so dutifully provided her and her child with. Every moment was sickening, especially as her empty eyes met mine, completely unseeing and misty, the life they once carried: drained.
"Well I hate to break it to you darling, but plans change." Her jaw clenches as her clear, lively, blue eyes meet mine. My mind flickers to Elena's. She pushes a few locks of her long blonde hair behind her back before continuing to clean the blood from her knuckles, the specks of crimson disappearing from her skin.
"I asked you for one thing in return for my help." I spit, hands clenching and the frustrated tears in my eyes begging to fall. Their wish is denied, I will not waste my emotions on her. "You promised me one thing, and in return I promised to get Dominic Toretto to you." Her smile shows her disinterest, smug and crude on her lips. How badly I want to punch it off her pretty face.
"Well you see my darling Y/N, agendas change and people's behaviour is unpredictable at best."
"Then get better at predicting it." I cry in frustration, the tears slipping from my eyes like water flowing through cracks in a dam. "You swore to me one thing! One!" I cry, utter disbelief and betrayal causing my voice to crack unnecessarily, like a hormonal teenage boy.
"I'm not a good person Y/N. You should be a better judge of character." She shifts uncomfortably in her seat. The cracks in my mask continue to grow - forming ravines of betrayal so deep that I doubt they can ever be healed. I should have known she'd be this insensitive. "Maybe you should have thought about the consequences of you actions, punishments here are served rightfully."
"So this was a punishment?" I pace, eyes crazed. "You think cleaning up her body, was a good punishment?"
"I never said you had to do it." She murmurs rolling her eyes and when I stand over her, locking her eyes on mine. Her shadowed face shows no guilt but the abundance of eye contact does all the speaking. She thinks she infallible, in complete control of her own emotions and of me.
"Say that again. I dare you."
"I never said you had to do it." She rises from her lounged position, the comfort she was once feeling threatened by a poor girl who could hack for a low price. "You get it that time? Or do you need me to repeat a third time?" She spits, face inches from mine. Silent tears roll down my face, eyes flickering to the hand on her gun. She hold onto it for her safety although i'm unarmed and can throw a right hook at best.
"I think our agreement is off and I wont be cooperating anymore." I wipe my tears and look into her eyes, the pupils inky rather than milky, colour bright instead of dull and lifeless.
"I cant believe you!" She raises her arm as if to hit me but it changes course before she can strike me across the cheek, other hand drifting from the pistol.
"You killed my best friend, Cipher. We're done here." I whisper, the energy and fight I had in me before evaporating. Black spots fill my vision and the room starts to spin. I place my palm flat against the solid wall, waiting for my sight to return fully and the falling feeling to stop. Once it does I go to leave the room still slightly dizzy and unbalanced, Cipher staring with wide eyes. "And that includes us. Whatever we were isn't a thing anymore."
"I'll drop you off to the nearest city next time we land." She murmurs, a singular tear falling from her eye before it's flung from her pale cheek by her hand. At least she has the decency to drop me off herself; all I have to do now is survive until the next landing.
