with rage fuelling his strength, Shadow pushed Infinite away and started attacking the jackal who was also fighting back, with both swords colliding with each other in every direction till Infinite caught a glimpse of the teen barely able to stand due to his weak condition.
stepping back from Shadow and his attacks he had a chance to create a couple of soldiers out fin air near the teen to finish the job for him
Infinite: KILL THE BRAT NOW!
Shadow quickly looked behind him and saw that Sonic was still on the floor with the soldiers about to lunge at him with their weapons in their hands.
Infinite: IF I GO DOWN, THEN I'M TAKING THE BRAT WITH ME!
Shadow: NO!
Sonic clench his eyes shut as he saw the solider about to strike him but then they were swiftly strike down before they could with the one saving him standing in front of the teen with a sword in one hand, standing in a protective manner as he look towards Infinite
'your tricks won't touch my son'
Jules said as he was ready to fight the soldiers that got themselves up, holding onto where he sliced them as they also got ready to fight the enraged father. Sonic couldn't believe he was seeing his father in front of him fighting to protect him as he try his best to stand but Jules said in a firm but calm voice
'don't get up Maurice, let me protect you as father should do'
Sonic stayed on the ground as he had no strength to move anymore and just nodded at his father as a response. with a smirk plastered on Jules's face he got himself ready to fight as he was attack from left to right, fighting back with ease.
Infinite: ARRRHH! JUST DIE ALL OF YOU!
the frustrated jackal yelled as he swung his sword forcefully down toward a distracted Shadow but the dark hedgehog was quick to react and manage to dodge it just in time before making a swing as he turned and make a slash across the jackals back, making him scream in agony before Shadow kick him to the side with him landing on the ground, unable to grab his sword from the distance from him.
he try to reach out for it but Shadow stomp on his hand to stop him with the jackal whimpering from the limb being crushed by the others boot
Shadow: I said to you, that I'll get you back for what you have done. any last words you wanna say
Infinite knew he lost as there was nothing stopping his death and weakly said 'fuck you' before Shadow grab his sword with both of his hands and slammed it down will all the force he could muster, straight into the jackals chest causing him to cough up a mouthful of blood as his heart was sliced in half, making a last beat and his body going completely limp.
as it was indicated that Infinite has just died, his soldiers disappeared along with him and Jules free to drop his sword and knell down to his son that was only able to keep his eyes open during all of it.
Jules: Maurice my boy, stay awake for a little bit longer till you get some medical treatment
Shadow also went to the teens side and was relived slightly when he saw the teen was still breathing before picking him up and telling Jules that he was taking him to a doctor at the castle.
Shadow didn't wait for any approval or response from Jules as he rushed back to get Sonic some medical treatment.

'I'm sorry....I'm so sorry.....please forgive me Maurice.......please wake up Sonic, me and Manic need you.........My brave baby boy, wake up soon...we love you so much..........come on Sonic, don't leave us, not when you said you and me will be together'
Sonic saw nothing but could hear the voice's of his family and Shadow telling him to wake up with him not able to till he finally was able to open them a while later.
when he opened them he felt weak and thirsty but saw he was safely laying on Shadow's chambers with no one around him, slowly sitting himself up and feeling the pain from his injury he look at the side and saw a glass of water.
with his hand shaking he was able to pick it up but drop it as soon as he pulled it towards him, catching the attention of someone that had their hands on the door knob to enter. the mobian quickly swung the door open with Sonic seeing it was his father with a expression that he couldn't describe as Jules rush to the side of the bed and grab the teen by the hands before he gently embraced his son.
Jules: Maurice! thank chaos you awake....we thought we would of lost you in that coma
Sonic wanted to speak but his mouth was so dry he couldn't with Jules knowing just by the glass on the floor that Sonic needed a drink, grabbing an empty one and filling it up to then help the teen take a couple of sips as he said in a worried tone
Jules: here, take a couple of sips at a time before you drink properly
Sonic did what he said, getting a bit of his voice back after he look back at his father as he spoke
Sonic:...is Infinite
Jules: he's gone, Shadow killed him but more importantly is that your awake and here with us again.....we all thought you would never...
Jules didn't want to finish the sentence since he didn't even want to think about it and instead told the teen a heart felt apology as he try to hold back the tears of joy and sorrow
Jules: I'm sorry Maurice, for everything I have done to you.......I know that I am a scumbag for not realizing it sooner....I'm terrible father and I should have never pushed you to being a king. I was putting the realm before my own son and if you despise me like you should do then I won't blame you nor will I be a part of your life anymore, if you don't want me too.....I never deserve to have a son as amazing as you and even if I said sorry to you till I take my last breath, it won't be enough for everything I done to you....I'm....I'm so sorry, forgive me
Sonic could feel the tears drop on top of his head and knew by Jules voice that he was crying as he hugged him tightly with the teen responding by lifting his weak arms and hug his father back, stunning his father for a moment
Sonic: I never have once despised you dad and I'm sorry for making you think I did...I don't want you to stay away.....I just wanted you to love me as your son, not as you heir.....can we just start over and try again, please dad
Jules was so grateful as well remorseful to know Sonic wanted to give him another chance as he silently cried on his shoulder and said he would love too.
Meanwhile Shadow was standing behind the door, wanting to go and see Sonic since he woke up but decided against it so the father and son could be alone for that moment
'hopefully this will be a start of you being a real father for him'
