Eclipse, Son of Artemis and Apollo, via essence combination, stood proud as he stared eye to eye with his grandfather, Zeus, King of Olympus, God of Thunder, and several more titles.
Today was his 1st century alive, at least in this life. When a god hits their first century they are taken to the realm of the fates.
Clotho, spinner of the thread of life. Beginning.
Lachesis, measurer of allotted length. Middle.
Atropos, she who cuts with her shears. End.
However, before that, those who had the potential to become Olympians came before their king. No one is quite sure why, but they say those who did almost always come to understand themselves to some degree and their meaning in life.
"Walk with me, grandson," Zeus said as he descended from his throne, his famed lightning bolt turning into energy and being absorbed into himself.
Confused he followed his grandfather to Hera's garden. A place sacred to Hera, someone who hated his existence for several reasons, but seemed to tolerate him.
"Sit," Zeus said as he gestured to him to a bench Zeus took a seat one across from him.
"We gods are given many titles, however, the most prevalent are our ranks. Minor god, Greater god, Olympian, and Elder god. At least for our pantheon. However, there is a misconception about that. When referring to an Elder god. An elder god is not that born from my father and mother, but rather one who knows of the eldritch truth." Zeus seemed to pause as he seemed reluctant to continue.
"Normally I wouldn't tell the others much further, but the three sisters of fate have informed me that you will need to be aware of certain beings. The truth of existence." Zeus said as he stared into the sky above Olympus.
"A long time ago, before any concept existed. There was a void, empty, and no consciousness of its own. However one day two entities popped into existence from it. The first was The Great Dreamer, a being who only sleeps. If they wake, the multiverse shall be destroyed. It is said that if they awake, the dream they had shall end and a new one may be born once it returns to its slumber. None shall survive. It is the ultimate power." Zeus paused as he seemed to stare at something only he could see in the sky.
"To gaze upon the dreamer shall lead one to either madness or enlightenment. If a mortal gazed upon its form, they would lose themselves in its glory and madness before succumbing to its ethereal and Omnipotent power." Zeus said as he seemed to sag and age before his eyes.
"So this dreamer, does it have a name?" Eclipse asked and Zeus rubbed his beard.
"Records indicated this being was called Azathoth, however, that is only the name in our records taken from the Titans who took it from their predecessors. Each king had a theory on its name, mine has been that we aren't capable of saying its true name, so the one we have is a bastardized version of it." Zeus said as he shook his head and declared that the conversation was over.
"No more on that. Now, the other being was known as simply Omni. The other original being. A being of nearly unmatched power, only rivaled by its sleeping twin. At one point in existence, after the dreamer started sleeping, Omni split his form into several pieces. Chaos. Audhumla. Amenominakanushi. Brahma. Anu. I'm sure you recognize those names from your lessons with Athena." Zeus said and Eclipse nodded his head.
"Yes. Chaos, after creating the universe along with Yahweh, split a tiny part of his very being off, and then the largest part became Nyx, Mother of Night, and the very night itself. The remaining pieces became the other original Primordials. Afterward, tired from everything, Chaos receded to below his son Tartarus and now exists as or inside the swirling void sharing the same name. Guarded by Nyx and Erebus. Along with Tartarus." Eclipse said and Zeus nodded with a smile.
